when lost
my way
of knowing –
as purpose fell into
a something worth revealing
– there was you

storied
by resistance –
left somewhere behind
a place to go
I’m going
yet to find

words
to draw you closer
a breath we shared
one day –
clouds were drifting
pulling us
away

get me back
I’ve come before
to know of this
somehow
the way we loved
another time
tis now

. . .

a way through the weeds ~

gracesundeserved

how much
our forgiving
for words yet unsaid
and a place we remember
come round
as a sweet recollection
of familiar returned
– a house on a hill
falling down

a buzz on the fields
a way through the weeds
and somewhere
– they miss us
the same
pieces are kept
of the leaving we took
 places and graces
and names

tho deeper the will
to discover the path
was ours
from beginning to end
love shall return us
the ways
were come –
to remember
this moment again

. . .

wide open ~

backagain

what memory
have you of this
of ways before the start
we dreamed a world
beyond our pulled apart
beyond this night
forgotten –
another willed to be
echoes down the meadow
from the sea

floated past the window
inches from the grey
ashes fell
reminding me to pray
for someone
without name I knew
someone still to mourn
let me find
remembrance here
an essence
without form

what truth
denies the bending
of sacrifice to sight
leaves the gate wide open
every night
hastens now the winter
to rush the fragile spring
hears the song
made sweeter
by the wing

. . .

an almost thing ~

heavenhere

worry not
the breath of me
soothe to fill my ache
or sleep to dim
where longing left a mark
but spare me not
the sweeter bliss
of berry blue horizons
roman candle firs
against the dark

were majesty
an almost thing
royal gowns for taking
let me lie in rags
beneath the throne
silenced by the wonder
of dandelion wish
of moments without word
or breath –
meant to rob
my own

. . .

love I keep ~

surrenderme

beneath the pull
of shade
to shape
of cedar into pine
forever rests
within the love I keep
fretting not eternities
wasting not a sin
drifting on the current
of my sleep

secrets wear
the seeker down –
whispers tell the most
verses bind my soul
to worlds unknown
sworn to tears
the snow returns
cool beneath my feet
worried not
  to memory
of stone

slow the wake
of ancient wills
to roll on velvet banks

and there I lie
with want
another start
to save me from
this certainty
wilderness of home
swarmed into the forest

of my heart

. . .

remembered not to passing ~

longing

stories wait
the telling –
as solace binds the soul
light is rent in service
to our will
a secret rarely uttered
sleeps with us the night
longing for a time
to hold us still

became of this
our faith returned
when all the rest was lost –
delayed my breath
 to rob this verse
of rhyme
remembered not
to passing –
or universes crossed
 beholding to a promise
so divine

another day
some other life
a change to all we’ve known –
as carried I
your touch beneath
my sleeves
 a history rewritten
shall follow me the dawn –
 your heart
is beating somewhere
I can’t see

. . .

returning me this way ~

nottoofar

traces mark the ways
I came –
rings around the bark
flowers here
I planted yesterday
what passions I’ve surrendered –
haunt this mortal ground
– whispered wind
returning me
this way

letters writ
a lifetime more –
ageless as their love
to sweat against the verses
every line
fingers rubbed a shade
of blue –
seeking still to claim
remnants of a story
more than mine

last I heard
of not much left
was buried somewhere south
below the line of parting
would you care
for promise lost –
except for these
I’ve kept them every one

the road is gone
and dreams won’t take me
there

. . .

as love knew me ~

silencefills

of places
once we tarried –
before
as now again
to know of love
(as love knew me)
a shift
of ancient sands

still
as light
became of word
your voice
to places sweet
made real a song
 without a sound –
my heart within
your beat

of taste –
your name
recalls my lips
your touch
of moonlight glow
showed to me
eternity –
the only one
I know

. . .

different looking back ~

longwayhome
  . . .

morning fits
with amber hues
her memory of night –
of places left
beyond the reach of dreams
where stories fell in secret
pages brittle bound –
light was lost to
moments
burned between

longing wakes
before the sun –
pulls the covers round
til supper is grown cold
and windows black –
living tends to hurt
the least
dying feels so wrong –

time
– it seems so different
looking back

. . .

tomorrow come ~

somewherestillwe are
beyond
the world’s indifference
stars are sworn to light –
as dragonflies
along my window sill
reminders of another once
you held me here this way –
quiet spread
– and all the rest
was still

sacred
as surrender
as one your wilderness –
were storms to pass
tho I be unafraid
of what might be tomorrow come
a mystery resolved –
a sorrow
cleaved apart
by plans we made

wait
another life
for me
within these halls confessed
lest parting be
the promise that you need
beyond the edge of circumstance
now we are again –
find me
in your seeking –
destiny
