forever (a moment) ~

in the space of a sigh
forever – a moment
can stretch to become
our one evermore
and all the days left
in the getting back home
would be lost to the face
as a place we remain –
when the night washes silk
into warm morning sun

what if days had been shorter
in the passing between –
or shadows held tighter
a little more us
lips where kisses still linger
in believing (in knowing)
love’s grace

might eternity fade
to the one we remember –
a name never spoke
into fullness of life
when given the sunset
a reminder of leaving –
tis always for love

the reason
we stay

what I’d give ~

from the answers
come the questions
what I’d give
for your embrace
secrets cradled in the darkness
tangled legs of loving grace

from the place
of unintended –
comes a map to all we know
where we’ll be
when evening gathers
to this golden afterglow

where you are
is where I’m going
one more day – another sun –
becomes the heart
I swore to honor
when my days –
at last are done

for every page
I left unstarted
ink to spare
and words too few
love becomes my soul salvation –
as longing reaches
for the truth

across – into
and through to beginning
were ever we here once before
eternal
the universe wakes to our waking
blown as a wish
to the ends of the sea
out past the lines of reason to wing
rushed through these veins
on our way to the light
surrendered in birth
the death of our dying
forgiven much more
than hands
touching hands
ribbons and braid
from threads we create
breath –
the same as eternity passing –
of all that you are
unto me

mother of life ~

love was the message
of goddess to flora
a poem to wrap with the essence
of green
longing for comfort –
lakota lay silent
and swore there was purpose
the rest would believe

take me
to make me
the same as your sorrows
ride me at morning
to the plains of mombai
burn me to memory
of buffalo graces
the language of hope
forgiven us now

of long ago breezes
winds surely shifting
forgotten my name
as the lines blew away ~
people and colors
civilizations
eternity grieves
my vision of home

Author’s Note ~

In 1994, a white buffalo calf was born on a farm in Wisconsin. . .
the first white buffalo born in decades.

Some believe she was the fulfillment of the prophecy that the return of
the White Buffalo Calf Woman will herald the advent of an age of peace and harmony.

Now, more than any time in history, we need the sacred feminine to balance
our lives and to balance our world.  We must be spiritual warriors – culling
the profound and important aspects of the power of feminine wisdom
and directing them toward peace within, as without, and utilizing the energies
of the goddess and all mythical women and spiritual heroines
to help direct the course of history.

he saved for her the sunset
he’d been painting
(all his life)
as crimson bled to orange
purple green –
a lover’s rite
reflections of the day
he found her standing
near the shore

held her (without speaking)
brushed a dress
of finest oil
silken sable gold
steady made her curls
to steal his pride
she came to him
each night as was created
other worlds –
beneath the canvas
(life beyond this one)

he heard the shutters heave
the rafters roar
calmed again the artist’s storm
he found the solace (her)
meadow green
with silver shoes
and palest pink (her stutter)

took his breath
and held him close
in pools of cocoa bean

he knew her
every (blush of) imperfection
had painted her in places
(always new)
this world of his
much larger now –
twilight dreams confessing
oil come to life in midnight hues

where sunset fell
in shadows (she is waiting)
evermore –
brushed against his memory
sapphire blue

yours for me ~

til I am no more
than a place that knew the wind
a tangled bit of hair
weaved across the ground
til I am melted with the winter
into what would be the sea
a glacier of ten thousand
patient mornings
rocked as one
upon the wave
– kept me sleeping
in my bed

how many nights
how many lives ago
til I am bloomed –
orchid from a vine of honey dew
and laid apart on silks
of silver queen –
walked along a meadow
between these fated points
where one was found
waiting for another

long enough
where silently
the breath of two became
a source of light
til I am nothing more
than one whose hands
were prone to write
a sceptor without word
to promise made when I am come
in wishes of surrender –
let then my name be yours
and yours for me

a place denied of judgment
a path erased from stone
where long ago returns –
a single breath
til all that’s left of me
is left of you

when all I have
is poured into these tiny hands
and wealth I thought
I had before –
no more  than grains of sand
were washed upon these living shores
returned to me a pearl
where lies the answers
eternities
I wondered –

(now I know)

ஜ۩۞۩ஜ

Come as a robin
outside my window –
true as a rainbow to shine.
Soft as a moment
we made in your making –
echoes of love so divine.

ஜ۩۞۩ஜ

was yesterday
I passed –
along this same sweet path
and shared a distant dream
I could hardly speak
knew not when
the time would come
would make my dreaming real

never knew
of times before –
you dreamed of me

Author’s Note ~ At various times, I have been asked to write
something for a special occassion (anniversary, eulogy, or birth of a child).
This is a collage (a few) of the later.

breath and mars ~

Heaven
the place you were going
without ever knowing –
of paths come between.
Stood here
for years alone
ten thousand miles from home.
I was waiting this
time to return.

Easy
when came to believing
of times you were leaving
whispers to my soul.
When gave
your song away
so much I couldn’t say
you needed to hear –
promise to be.

Always
a dream you talked about
before your time ran out
with flowers in hand.
Trusting the noonday sun
with things we might have done
had the world been ours –
will to become.

Golden
fingers of summer heat
puddle around our feet –
a blanket to share.
Communion
with passing stars –
nothing but breath and mars.
Words I heard you say
I’ll never know.

Sunset
glows in the evening rain
twilight her sweet refrain
of just holding on.
Whatever waits me now
as lifetimes we allow.
My words entreating –
love me again.

everything
is changed
nothing meant
to be the same
tho I wished it still
for once
til I could take it in
was a picture that I framed
held the shutter
for too long

where was the light
I waited for
what became of this
the other night
was left before
these robins were not stationed
on the roof
a dove or two
I noticed them
but never did they whine
not even when she lost him
(the mystery forgot)
she couldn’t cry
couldn’t share with me her pain

still there she was
a shadow of his life

but the robins
how they boast
of every treasure that they find
a breath of fur
a strand of silk
tinsel for the nest
no one can build the same
busy there beneath the edge
where shingle meets with shade
the children lost
the baby fell beyond the
lowest branch

how was I to know
when the weeds were tall
and looking until dark
strained against the weakest
of the summer snares
were others there
but what had changed
where was change intended
I want the one
where is the one
the baby of the babes
the longing one
of these
the last to fly

let’s sit the night
I’ll burn out every bulb
along the path
raise the lantern up
and melt each candle into wood
we’ll find the one
was leaving

forgot to let you go

from dreams where I was tumbled
from the pillow ~ to the floor
awakened to discover
there was life beyond
(and more)
than I had ever thought
in living ~
more than fate
had planned for me
and this (in this) would find again
the story still to be

though waiting
fraught with every word ~
is testament to will
could not be sure
the cost to hurt
but knew the price to heal
might other souls be lifted ~
others yet would rise to see
was worse ~
the never knowing
this shroud of mystery

was never proved a thing
certain truth (we couldn’t hide)
would only those of courage
move the veil of fear aside
wherever love is willing ~
let understanding write
of worlds beyond the ones we keep

~ a light beyond
the light
