one

in the fullness
of this moment –
conscious comes as all
we are
together now
as evermore

held within
the silence
where violence cannot rest –
quietly as one
our hearts to beat

empty
but for loving
filled
as hours unto years –
bursting wide
the seams of destiny

parted now
the lacey veil –
wherein forever hides
the souvenirs
of paths
we keep behind

undenied ~

gifts

make for me
the moments long
let the music play
beyond the reach of winter hands –
this precious
Christmas day

wrap for me
the sweetest gift
that I might open wide
the blossom
of my fragile heart –
a season undenied

wherein the midnight
glistens now –
the same eternal shine
as once a baby welcomed me
with innocence divine

of places not forsaken
let me find them every one –
returning now
the ways of love –
immortal I become

the bluest night
o brightest star
alight on virgin snow
as ancient signs fortelling –
the first of these to know

as moments stilled
by silent winds
around this sacred tree
remains of love
tho undeserved –
the only gift
I need

story

of places remembered
to starlight undimmed
mysteries falling away
holy reminders
of moments so sweet
heaven returning
always

snowflake and winter
held long our dreams
of passing before
as a sigh – we remain
ripples of one
another we knew
tho held not to memory
by name

silent the still
of eternity dawned
tears from the face
of the sun –
glows still the night
of a far away star
breathing as love
into one

tenderness of time ~

grampa's winters

were memories
around us pulled
comfort to the still
where once the pearls
of laughter
burned us down

moonlight sits
on dirty panes
spring forgot to clean
when caught up in the living
let them go

hands confessed
of others known –
tenderness of time
places kept beyond the reach
of all we hoped to find
granny's star
mistletoe
but who can know
of words denied to kiss
silver bells are ringing
can’t you hear

packages for wrapping
string the lights around
tend the fire
and let the solace in

cards along the mantle
tell of better days
but written to the soul
a kinder pen

. . .

of chance

of reasons
I’ve forgotten
where the stars were crossed
but kept within my blood
their very names

drew a map
from north to south
west across the plains
east as far
the oldest sun shall rise

spoke of times
an ancient place
beyond the reach of knowing
sisters spin
in silken webs
as shadows of disgrace

fated fears
and let’s begin –
truth to resurrect
tho buried now
beneath my holy place

crossed again
the story line –
wherever
west is gone –

pulls against my center
at odds against
the stars

. . .

within

o precious redeemer
hold tighter
I pray –
and garner my heart
with your wonderous grace

know me
bestow me
paths you have laid
grant me the courage
to turn not away
from the living
forgiving
of choices long made
that I might endure
every kiss
every blade

in pleasing
releasing
both laughter and tears
joys spilled over
to the places of fear
of becoming
the only
of always I am
a snowflake in autumn
a flaw in the plan

of pathways
and patience –
my purpose to find
eternity already come
and I never willing
silent to sit
while life dances by
on the lawn

turning
returning
spinning in place
lost in a moment
floating in space
living and dying
forever
today

to lose
to be broken
to be torn
and be healed
remembering light
as a scar to my soul
born into breath
this morning
again –
with nothing to keep
and all now to hold

mercies
how tenderly
each one revealed
and somewhere
they worry for me
swirling
unfurling
as leaves falling down
love waiting only
to be

time after time ~

almost touching

starting to see
without sense of the loss
seasons rushed by
nearly blind
caught in the passing
of love into life
forgotten to paths
fell behind

making our way
from pages turned brown –
stories retold now again
passions made true
as embers to burn
than e’er was the flame
to begin

starting
and leaving –
letting us in
long after time
has forgiven our trust
roads cross the same
on the way back to here –
nights never looking
for us

bursted
from light –
at edges unknown
were moments for keeping
this way
dreams bare the promise
we dared never speak
of love –
such a small price
to pay

waiting
for reasons
confessed to the wind –
dearer this fate to allow
remembering wonder
of living relearned –
winters
a part of us now

. . .

disturbance

lifetimes becoming
the only way how –
I could know
all I know
in the presence
of now

melodies played
on the strings of my heart
music I lost long ago
purple wallpaper
and who ever sleeps
in blankets the color
of snow

mercy and mayflies
failed me before –
but somewhere they wait
up the night
cause for no worry
and work with no pay –
dreaming
becoming
a winter in flight

signs on the road
are covered with vine
poison –
and something less sweet
berries and beautiful
go now their way –
split by the path of before
we could meet

paradise deals
in permissions to love –
moments when all becomes clear
names burned away
by the warm glow of life
fingers worn down
by the tracing of years

pieces forgotten
stitched into one –
mornings grown close
to the little white lie
told when nothing makes sense
time leaves a scar
on the coming back safe
lifetimes lived o’er –
our lowly defense

tiny gold teaspoons
blossomed to light –
are home to the songs
(without words)
I recite

day of nights ~

veil

of dates and times
the map considers –
rivers span eternities
frigid depths
of icy splinters
ring the gates of destiny

compass worn
by wishful thinking
one more day of nights
shall come
burning white within the darkness
gathered now our souls
to home

mystery denied solution
what of life
is waiting still
what of breath
shall leave me living
more than time
the moss to seal

pardon come
with sure forgiveness
all that was – is now
the same
rivers flow
eternal waters –
carry life
from whence we came

. . .
