moremethanyou

fit to me
your many pieces –
crooked
cranky
surely fine
wedge into these corners
tempted –
moments cleft
the hands of time

bargain basement
parts forsaken –
take of more
these treasures true
bind with mercy
each confession
crooked
cranky –
fit for you

missthemstill

of empty wells
and burned out places
something still
within remains –

of quiet truth
denied a singing
comes again
each silent
night

as falling fell
the ghost of ashes –
was grieved
for joy
our living much

full moons rise
to breach the morning –
forgotten now
the glow
of loss

beyond the pines

roll me down
against the stones
float my soul
to heaven
turn my eyes
to stary skies
most have never seen

I’ve heard a few
were painted
to ancient chapel walls
and wondered I
of fools
to never know

a blacker veil
wraps the edge
of city lights for reaching
diamond fields
unnoticed by the sun

fireflies
forgotten
by a wish that fell
one summer –
chasing dreams of magic
– lightning
to the ground

rememberedme

as twilight clings
in morning sweat
of love’s remembrance found
longing mates
with memory
somewhere

visions cast
an awkward glance
to angels unaware –
are swinging from the branches
of my heart

last year’s hope
is this year’s ache
and some –
they stay forever
willed into existence
by the sweet embrace
of light

nightskirt

dreams the night divided
lives before
and since
fields are growing over
the memory of seed –
swallowed by the music
swaying side by side
red becoming
something more than hay

heaven flies
on outstretched wing
ten feet above the ground –
soars ten thousand miles
before the night
remembered these –
the way to home
sometimes the darkness bleeds
as longing floats
to clouds
above the sound

swirling silk
of old release –
a crooked line embracing
the mystery of life
so few can see –
monarchs flush the ancient pine
how nimble
– crouched the stillness
memorized returning
to all the nights
between

whereIgo

lavender tears
of silent surrender
– pewter restored
to a moment divine
last time I held you –
last time a whisper
in blushes of dogwood
blossomed
to skin

secrets
told somewhere
others are saying –
how long the night
 protecting the dawn –
recalled to the memory
 another undoing –
led us to paths
were to share
let us go

powder magnolia
and split fences falling
tangled our words
into something forgot
the reasons
for staying –
and who would remember
the scent of forever
was dogwood
to bloom

findmestill

a gentle boy
tho no one knew
the path he must have made
wondered more than I
to why he came
with silver minnow leeches –
carved against a rock
slipped into the places
I remain

somewhere springs
an ancient tide
of endless crystal beaches
last I heard
the earth was come
around
to see your way
would understand
words I never said-
footprints glowing red
in sheets of clay

bide your time
take of mine
the reasons we remember
vine was strung from evergreen
as once I loved you
more –
penning notes
forever wrote –
to slips of oak and willow
poems came to rhyme
against the day

traded me the sunrise –
forgiven
us the night –
one more story
whispers us away

silence

for moments
I have traveled –
lost my way
sometimes –
and swam in silver depths
beyond the pond

wishes of reflection
as streamers curled the night
– pardon me
the way they spelled
your name

open arms
and we began
somewhere east of eden
a blanket made
of flannel – crossed
with pale

once or more
the lying left
in curses by the fence
as tresses braided wheat
into a smile

hand me downs
and where I’ll be
should e’er the taking
bring you –
home another way
forgotten truce

maps betrayed
for tracing –
down every rural road
– spare the wheel
and let your soul
decide

fire

beyond the realms
of all we know
another waits
in senses
forever bloomed
immortal breath of fire

the steady beat –
with skies to walk
and naught
a thought to tarry
reserving us
reminders to become

of markers left
and letters carved
into a place
we passed –
what joy to find we’ve wandered
close to home

another day
this way resolved
to sit a while
in slumber
forsaken to the night
– the weary soul

uncharted there
from porch to post
burning stars so bright
ships are tracing
slivers of the moon

backward to
the wishing well
where there you are
the same –
a light within the current
– sacred stone

Author’s Note: Inspired (in part) by the following passage from
Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver…

“As long as we won’t commit to knowing everything, the presumption
is we know nothing…
he did not claim that God
moves in mysterious ways. Instead he seemed to believe,
as she did,
though they never could have discussed it,
that everything else is in motion while God

does not move at all. God sits still, perfectly at rest,
the silver dollar at the bottom

of the well, the question.”

Art Photography by Wroth

the whispers
are failing
the long summer grass
as legions are marched
to the ground –

sung to the dragons
as twilight to burn
webs were just reaching beyond
this fluid embrace
of long nights alone
 and blankets pulled over
 a snowy white
shroud –

ribboned cocoon
of silken burlesque
is matched
by a cape of the very
same shade
and spun into dreams
never knew we were here
and kept as a memory

of winter
and lace
