before the last eternity ~

colors

wake this soul
some distant dawn
warmth before the body goes
before the last
eternity –
speak of love
that I might know

of pages
I was smitten here
heaven held between the lines
wasted come
the morning news –
to steal of days
this mortal rhyme

quiet stirs
in wordless breath –
as sweetly drawn
within
the memory
where dreamed
I loved –
awakens me again

when sworn to less
I cannot bear
the giving up to leave
a change of plans
a path disturbed
of longing
– how
I grieve

. . .

between ~

birthdaymorning

of choices
I’ve no memory
of when
and where you’ve gone
the roads
between
or how I’ll carry
on

the way
of mine –
the blossoms sore
but for the times
confessed
when woke for you
another sunday
best

let me feel
let me stay
curve into my places
surrender not
a moment
of regret

of stars
beyond the reach
of where
forever let us
lead –
a silence
just as sweet
I’ll not forget

. . .

all but taken ~

still

of breath
where north meets
south –
melted now
my skies
into the bluest blue
the softest sigh

reminders
have been making
their way
across the lawn
dew is all but taken
by the light

who
and there
you wander
again and yet
I knew
you’d come for me
and I would bear
your truth

love
the only reason
can move our hurts
to heal
falls into the
measure
of our one –
remembered
still

. . .

opened wide ~

remembered

of sorrows
I have many
yet my heart is cleaved
again –
opened wide
to let the others in
starting
as all over
once and more
for every time –
here we end
here the new begins

trading scars
for ancient stars –
constellations
born
to trace the lines
around and deep my heart
take of this
they all
would say –
take and leave me sore
fill me up
with living –
let us start

in stories
yet unwritten –
might I tell of love
the same
when given up my
treasure –
every name
would you know
me then
by something more
than tears to never fall
a candle burned
for sorrow –
for us all

rhyme
and there you wonder
where it went
and what it means
when words are caught
and I can’t say
a thing
but trust the beat
of measure
come in every
word I write –
to fill the darkness
sweeter now
with light

surelythis

straight
and strong
soft as summer
learning now
to open soon
trees are meshed
a skirt of flowers
angels
light beneath
the moon

grace
and graces
unbeknownst
are filling swift
my cup
names and places
time erased
the want
for all
but love

closerus

bowed against
a vow unspoken
hands are holding
(now I know)
where the path
was meant
to wander
sweet and golden
sure to home

somewhere
yet
they seek
permission –
tho granted
not for one (as I)
lives are weaved
of blissful
sorrow
borrowed
threads –
each sweet goodbye

who shall
want
for this reflection
breath to wait
the fading light
souls we saved
ten thousand (mattered)
are rushed
by faith
into the night

grateful

before
and still
I have as then
a reason
to remember
the winds are calling
– even now
I rise

to watch
a wave of feathers
course a southern moon
a sea of countless
graces
for my eyes

closing now
where silent sits
in dusted rafters
– soul
gathers unto places
I belong

heart
of one
I know as more
time shall ne’er erase
the music
of becoming –
sacred
song

goingIshallfind

because I love you……….

I will remind you
of the ways I have held you
and nights
I spoke your name
a gift from God
your beauty –
spirit flame

beckoned as a nightbird
black against the sky
given life
– was breath
before you knew
forgiveness
found a way to be
the story starting now
when all seemed lost
He offered life
to you

asking not
the ways we came
or why the door ajar
of pieces scattered
broken (let me go)
but only this
the answer be
that we as love must trust
words that once
were written
to our soul

Author’s Note: This was written for my nephew – my light, my inspiration,
my soulmate – because I can – because I do.

whereandstill

what story
mine
the way recalls
a distant
almost sun
with rite to burn
– falling leaves
of flame

upon the path
of conciousness
through this ache
restored –
dreams where
none were known
to be the same

easing
into destinies
of where
the blossom sleeps
love returns
a memory
by name

settledhere

of graces
I am grateful
blessings
overflowed
to fill the page
to fill my years
below

of sorrows
not so many
much more their joy
to find
when name by name
I call to them
divine

lowly
my transgressions
my forgiveness
bartered none
for paths
already grieving
every one

summer lace
and winter sighs
shall hold of me
the light
of graces
I am grateful
for this night
