be forgiving –
the passing of days
or heaven give notice
this loving to praise

surrendered
the memory
of everything dear
as darkness remembered
another to fear

come now
from your hiding
as sorrow betrayed
love shall forever
be reason to save

were touch
but the only
gift left of goodbye –
when traded a lifetime
of wondering why

we gave of a moment
an eternity still –
love without measure
our purpose to fill

even now
I wish
there were things
that you knew
of places I go
to wander the night
might you see
without sight
like ten thousand before
as spark to the empty –
a star beyond light

as a place
of beginning –
fields standing bare
with will for another
hurt to erase
the memory of ruin
is burdened by grief –
by prayers
never heard –
unspoken to grace

would nature
return
as the first
light was come –
without reason or want
for the falling into
a story awaiting
your hand at the pen
making truth of the darkness
what is seen –
what is knew

let me
remember
the heart of revealing
wrapped in surrender
alive in your eyes
grant me
a moment
when all is forsaken –
but the smell of your skin
the song of your sigh

give me
forever –
no more for this passing
of evermore come
the intention of flame
prayers for delay
the morning forgotten
would silence give room
the sound
of my name

show me
to know you
the same as was then –
another we lingered
tho lifetimes ago
fill me
with storybook tales
of tomorrow –
trade for my breathing
your own –
nice and slow

let me
grant me
fill me for keeping
something this sweet –
for another shall end
life before living
leave me to wonder
give me
receive me –
take me again

of destinies
whene’er the quiet calm
as needles
neath the tender trees –
were ancient secrets sewn
tho burdened not
the storied lips –
with versions of the truth
stilled the heart
from beating
one last time

frail the myth
of memorize –
as curs’ed ways we fell
with worry not
for leaving with the sun –
breezes blow
across into

breath has come

have been my saving grace
how long
from waking stirred
to blur the lacey edges
come of sleep
will carry me
a lifetime more
than crystal stems
and longing
beyond the velvet echoes
of goodbye

given me direction
with one more
purple dawn –
peepers crowd beneath
the rafters now
warm the line
between the road
and where it was I knew
you’d find me here
with every want
made true

shadows
to an outstretched hand
spirit held by name –
as somewhere soft
this once
you fell into
the wonder
of awaking –
as a dream
beyond the night

as answer to a wish
made long ago

the softest white cedar
make of my heart

pull of my passions
enough to remember –
and wrap every limb
with ribbon just so
dream me from memory
magpie and marble

set with no direction

fill my veins
warm the course
of love along my banks

quench me
with your thirst

home to ancient shores
bless’ed moon –

pour me out –
a tender heart
take of me (your fill)
with stories of a time

from the first
I knew the last –
every blessing pressed between
as years would flow
the river to the spring
backward to the starting
forever just for this –
knee to knee
and kiss to eager kiss

without song
I heard the music
someone sang it once for me
and danced me round
beneath an amber sky
swirled away
as come what may
time betrayed the end –
meet me there
was all I heard him say

in the still
I found my seasons
as promise one time made
to wake anew
when leaves were on the ground
listening for violins –
held me here before
last I knew –
the first would come
again
