hereandthen

carry me now
the ways of remember –
a silver white light
laid soft
on the dawn
awaking in time
the once held suspicion
love lingers still
in places
unknown

to walk
near the graves
of the last without name
thirty five more
past the broken down gate
to surrender
my keeping
of moments so fair
as paths through
the silence
– to wake
with you there

in the still
born of letting –
words
into smoke
how far from the sleeping
steps turn to stone
were garnered
of moments –
I hold yet their truth
in dreams
of becoming –
to carry me
home

. . .

seventeen ~

surelyme

sworn to none
the letting go
some piece of seventeen
forty more and there
the coming back
to catch us up
with sweet surprise
familiar as our own

– as all I know
of places that I don’t

feather covers
tiny blooms
and all I ask – another
sunrise come
and I within the toast
of one more willing
bring me back
voices I remember
becoming this –
a song
beneath my bones

ancient glow
of amber fits
settled on the porch
close enough to mars
and he – my sin
forgiven when the morning
spreads our truth
around

wrapped unto
and warmed against
my fall

miles
and still unknown
the ways
october passed
melting into now
snow on skin –

as somewhere
I have noticed
comes without invite –
crossing into dreams
of seventeen

. . .

words were come ~

small and still

how is it
words were come
when there was nothing
left to say
names already written
to my heart

fade to light
so easily –
pull me from my dreams
dared to sleep
– remember me
this way

touch
not soon forgotten
graces understood
miles to go –
and still
I wander on

driven by a madness
settled as a saint –
counting
out my blessings
every one

take of mine
my moments –
as want for any less
change is sure
tho I shall
linger here

eased against
forever –
weighted by a sigh
held by something
greater still
than I

. . .

before the last eternity ~

colors

wake this soul
some distant dawn
warmth before the body goes
before the last
eternity –
speak of love
that I might know

of pages
I was smitten here
heaven held between the lines
wasted come
the morning news –
to steal of days
this mortal rhyme

quiet stirs
in wordless breath –
as sweetly drawn
within
the memory
where dreamed
I loved –
awakens me again

when sworn to less
I cannot bear
the giving up to leave
a change of plans
a path disturbed
of longing
– how
I grieve

. . .

all but taken ~

still

of breath
where north meets
south –
melted now
my skies
into the bluest blue
the softest sigh

reminders
have been making
their way
across the lawn
dew is all but taken
by the light

who
and there
you wander
again and yet
I knew
you’d come for me
and I would bear
your truth

love
the only reason
can move our hurts
to heal
falls into the
measure
of our one –
remembered
still

somewherenow

scatter me
these telltale leaves
beyond the wish of spring
beyond the fate
where winter
hides his young
memorized
my mysteries –
line by tender line
read me back
to places
I’m become

the way you knew
of worlds before
skies are pearling grey
evermore to dream
of journeys crossed
echoes swim
on silver wings
high above this prize
heaven falls
and worries not
our loss

. . .

aboveme

stealing me now
three breaths
(maybe more)
as you lay
with your head
on my heart
telling aloud
the story beginning
– light making sense
(of the dark)

maybe
(and sure)
this fate to uncover
was writ
long before
we were one
to know (as we know)
to feel (what we feel)
wrapped
in a moment –
remembered as home

stealing me now
three breaths
(maybe more)

. . .

in sweet ~

she spins
in sleeves
of flannel
worried not for word
counts the stars
becauseby name
(gives them
hers)

cursing not
the seeker
nor winds
to take him far
beyond the light
(still
within her arms)

♥♥

in sweet
she pulls
at shadows
and wanders then
to dream
of wishes made
(and where
their burning rests)

in choice
denied the choosing
fortunes yet
untold
for love beyond
her knowing
(gratefulness)

storybook

ivy claims
the dusty boards
run beneath my bed
beyond the dream
roots are taking hold
a somewhere
I’ve decided
is where I’ll spend
my nights

while keeping here
the best
of letting go

anxious breath
of moments left
of lifetimes there
we knew
calamine
and flannel
birch and bear
cold the ways of winter
let me hold you
closer dear

charcoal swans
are gathered
to the rise

silence
tells me everything
about the ways
you’ve come
and where you’ll go
when morning
shades my eyes

paths
of almost nothing
weave ambrosia
into light
and I am swept
with where you were
tonight

surrenderme

beneath the pull
of shade
to shape
of cedar into pine
forever rests
within the love I keep
fretting not eternities
wasting not a sin
drifting on the current
of my sleep

secrets wear
the seeker down –
whispers tell the most
verses bind my soul
to worlds unknown
sworn to tears
the snow returns
cool beneath my feet
worried not
  to memory
of stone

slow the wake
of ancient wills
to roll on velvet banks

and there I lie
with want
another start
to save me from
this certainty
wilderness of home
swarmed into the forest

of my heart
