forgiveness –
eyes are closed
and arms held wide
there’s a place (I go)
beyond the reach
of time

in a golden glow
the universe
remembers me by name
dreams (to fit beneath
my skin) –
are learned of love
the same

skylight confession
to somebody’s baby
and times
we held long
the edges of dark
neath the pull of november
graces come clean
and settled as words
on our heart

willing reflection
on promise unreal
an ending beginning
to keep us
as one
fell to the altar
of all we would will –
merged into soul
not our own

beneath this fragile
knowing –
splinters pressed into
the place of solace come
and who will know
of thought I never
spent to verse
words left out to dry
where time is gone
you must have seen me
fly

above the trees
between the clouds
beyond the reach of song
how many lives
awaited
for us here
I can’t be sure
I told you once
some things I can’t forget
– the color of your eyes
between my tears

tell me now
as you must know –
of moments
we have passed
when promised us a life
beyond these years
carry my
beleaguered soul
into the place of hands
hold my name
within the heart
you own

I’m unworthy –
were purpose writ for me
to walk these planks
so warm
beneath my toes
as winds to whisper softly
a curse of crooked boards
– to worlds
beyond my seeking
now I go

as breath
to almost always –
fingers worked around
– foundation to the temple
of my hands
stars are cast into the morn
where once forever stood –
light is come
my ways
to understand

forgotten to the map
begun –
one Sunday in the rain
swept her muddy secrets
from my soul
watched a blue horizon
melt into the deep
– I listened
as the tides
of heaven told

already known –
fates are curved just so
ashes bloomed
to gardens red
I knew
you’d find me here
forgotten by
each measure of regret
as verses meant to cut us
thru and thru

beyond the pond
where stillness lay
in wait for any reason
as ripples from this passing
love is spread
beyond the warmth
of memory –
I can’t believe you came
a golden glow
as destinies are wed

for this touch
to trade
the evening news
a voice I swear I know
sits within
the meadow of my soul

reminding me
of seasons past
times I couldn’t stay
surviving
for another –
to remember me
this way

in sheets
of softest flannel
tiny yellow blooms
are wrapped against
the place
that holds my song
just beyond the distance
sparrows fill the trees –
where dreams are lost
to others
I belong

soft the swell
of silence
asleep beneath the bed
wherein the past
is tempt to keep me here
violins are playing –
as crickets cry amen
flannel wills the darkness
disappear

moments crowd
a gentle dawn –
tis there the promise sleeps
camped beneath
exalted arms of green
songs are lifted tender
of one more time we knew
of heaven here –
lifetimes pressed
between

however sweet
the knowing comes
in tiny purple petals
as blooms
the same as stars
our light returned
beauty swims in mystery
of longing never settled –
dreams are falling
somewhere still
we yearn

unburdened

into the realm
of all I am –
what more
we might become
the ways to home

your only one

as stilled
before the waking
to heaven one more time
the light has shifted
now –
as one divine

was come for me
and waited more than breath
the years have left
– to find the key
where’er the lock
be kept

forsaken not
the telling –
were love to reason why
words have lost
their meaning
– as have I

daylight beams
in silent streams
across the place we lay
as I remember
once before –
forgetting you

how could you know
unknowing –
of ways before we were
as light between the candle
and the flame
a touch of almost
nothing
fades without you here
how could you know –
my skin don’t feel
the same

as living unexpected
when thought my purpose done
fields are growing
over yesterday
grain is separated
golden from the chaff
as pieces
never meant
are blown away

morning comes
remembering –
another dawn I lay
wrapped in softest linen
counted sleep
folded now to memory –
stored upon the shelf
take me down
as moments –
left to keep
