little mine

of knowing
what is keeping
the heart
tied up
with thorns
– a place
beyond the realm
of sanity

moves this sun
to rising –
grieves the almost
moon
– another
one more time
I thought to go

pardon this
intrusion –
worry not your will
to names and dates –
maladies of stone
held apart
by living –
eternity as one
how it is I know –
where you have
gone

beyond the feel
of shadows –
crowded round
my steps
beyond the fence
– tis all
that I have left

of signs
unwelcome graces –
my once or twice
with you –
lines were crossed
– was nothing
I could do

but pull
a chair
and sit a spell
with verses
growing cold
– was here before
the words
were catching
hold

. . .

beyond the safe ~

undenied

of paths
I’ll not remember this
how far
beyond your arms
beyond the safe –
somewhere
still we are

will years
become
the wearing down
into eternity –
a late night
in the kitchen
silently

rehearsed
again
the coming back
forgotten now to go
love is still
– I wonder
how I know

. . .

first to leave ~

aplaceofme

saturday
the screendoor slammed
how easy
unforgetting
a time before of passing
– a moonlight
on the floor

a box of tin
for every then –
were all the pages turning
black and white
is fading now
– begin

the last to know
was first to leave
amid these pleads
of darling
linament
and linen –
winter snow

hide me here
within your arms
folded
close with story
of how and when
you held me
then –
another
once we knew

the getting on
would get us
back –
one way or another
the windows
left us open –
with one more night
to spare

. . .

the last time looking ~

awake

spools
and pearls
aging satin –
a pillow here
to lay your head
saved for me
the last time
looking
moments passed
with miles
ahead

tho twice the turn
of intuition
glances
but a whisper freed
knew not
why
my heart was broken
– why for you
my only need

gathered soft
for flight
or failure –
for wonders far beyond
this place
questionning
betrayed to answer
– how it was
I knew
your ways

tender now
the promise wearies
to stay
when there was more
to know
to keep of joys
which none could carry
– to rush beyond
the wanting
so

. . .

resolved ~

something matters more

tiny pearls
were wishes made
one night before the summer
was rained upon
the meadow –
let me in
whispering a story
lived I not for long
chances took
and I am here
again

silent
spools the ruby red
feathers to the limb
while just a bit
aways
the blue
becomes
resolved to something
bigger
floating to the ground
swept beneath
the sleeping winter
dawn

. . .

snowglobe moments ~

o_the_sweet

of dreams –
the start of many
mary falls around
til quiet fills
the waiting coffee cup
numbered –
our beginnings
bless’ed every one
breathed between
the want
and ne’er enough

bested by my knowing
sleep may never save
legions undefeated
by my name
startled by
my restlessness
guard to sorrows deep –
embers cool
and there
a sweeter flame

a ways become
of turning home –
moments unconfessed
are left within
a season’s letting go
fragile now
the pieces
carried by my heart –
breath against the windows
of my soul

. . .

witness ~

gatheredme

warmth
is gathered
by my door –
tho white
the morning lawn
love is seeking arms
and I respond

as witness to
an ancient truth
fingerprints of grace
lace is strung
from pines –
but not for long

before the sun
discovers us
remembers me again
a child at once
recalled
to love I am

silent
as the first to fall
effortless to mourn
swirling feathers
softly
melting
down

. . .

all but taken ~

still

of breath
where north meets
south –
melted now
my skies
into the bluest blue
the softest sigh

reminders
have been making
their way
across the lawn
dew is all but taken
by the light

who
and there
you wander
again and yet
I knew
you’d come for me
and I would bear
your truth

love
the only reason
can move our hurts
to heal
falls into the
measure
of our one –
remembered
still

. . .

places I belong ~

grateful

before
and still
I have as then
a reason
to remember
the winds are calling
– even now
I rise

to watch
a wave of feathers
course a southern moon
a sea of countless
graces
for my eyes

closing now
where silent sits
in dusted rafters
– soul
gathers unto places
I belong

heart
of one
I know as more
time shall ne’er erase
the music
of becoming –
sacred
song

. . .

somewherenow

scatter me
these telltale leaves
beyond the wish of spring
beyond the fate
where winter
hides his young
memorized
my mysteries –
line by tender line
read me back
to places
I’m become

the way you knew
of worlds before
skies are pearling grey
evermore to dream
of journeys crossed
echoes swim
on silver wings
high above this prize
heaven falls
and worries not
our loss
