were not
for simple glories
sewn into the field
the winds
would surely come
to take the seed
left of eden’s babies
scattered by the flood
to blossom
from the cracks
in misery

. . .

became of grace ~

justasiprayed

before the sun
a darkness
unrepentant for his ways
as grasses grew
covered by the wind

black
and cool to touch
as mercy
like a stone –
became another moon
a weightless night

alone
but for a promise
– the voice of simple dreams
called from
empty caverns
raging seas

with stories
of forever –
some other plan was made
to flush the fields
with color
yet unnamed

by hands
in quiet working
feather into wing –
beauty from the shadows
an almost
glistening

as answer
to an ancient prayer
moved this heart to plea
became of grace
forgiveness for
the dawn

. . .

hometokeep

these wing’ed ones
of angel tribe
are dusted from their beds
as sunlight now
their downy dreams invade

with memories
of falling
as fearless as the dew
to sit within the dark
atop the blade

. . .

somewherestill

was more than knew
ten thousand times –
a child
for love –
a promise
revealed to one
before the veil removed
but for the light
remembered us
a flame
of consolation –
words inscribed
as reason to the soul
miracles
are more than just
a story
told again
of days erased
before the dreams
began

. . .

by visions into light ~

comingnow

beyond the longest shadow
a sense of something more
– a night
here I have wandered
(fearlessly)

to distant meadows
(blooming)
grass stains
on my toes
(a ways) beyond
the only path I know

houses where
(the lowly) I
was cradled tenderly
a yard is overgrown
(but I don’t care)

tis not my want
to question –
when wishing me to home
dreams are come
(and I am)
everywhere

a deeper trust
divided
(by visions) into light
hearts are one
(tho all the proof is gone)

what of me (another)
remembers where to go

when once (as then)
my sleeping ends –
miles from this I dream
familiar lives
reclaiming (now)
my soul

. . .

breathless ~

disappearing

stardust
was the first I knew
of midnight confidantes –
prints along
the edges
of my room

verses
found in corners
words I never used –
poems sweetly tucked
into the night

breathless
as a robin’s first
warms the window sill
– what proof
has been forsaken
to the dark

blushing hands
resist the fault
of memory to plead
swollen lips –
the taste of honeybees

a curs’ed line
runs parallel
to places I am still
– gathered as a wish
into a sigh

. . .

living for

as snow
atop the cedars
melted with our tears
washed away
these memories
of time

awaiting us –
eternities
beyond this resting place
denied the dream
by sorrows
so divine

what more of love
becoming –
as blossoms to the chill
would last
where essence drifted
down the pines

. . .

again ~

blushoffirst

 who waits
in sheets of darkness
a window to the south
to watch me rise
with sleepy eyes
the sun

melted to my knowing
as sorrows
to the blade
as morning dew
I fall to you
again

. . .

there ~

gatherings

there’s a woman there
I see her
reflection made of me
eyes I’ve known
made softer by the sun
lines are less than faded
silver strands have made a home
remembered now too much
was passed before
cherished memories
not for mercy
poor would be this woman’s heart
speaks to me the same
with eyes the shade of love
the woman there
I know
. . .

glimpses ~

hererighthere

we are fireflies
floating in mists of memory
caught in silence
kept with smiles
slight nods of the head
a tear misting the eye
lovers’ intimate knowing
and each of these short-lived wonders
teach us with sparkling glimpses
of truth from their tiny golden lights –
that darkness is a soft pillow
to slow our souls
from the overflow of sensations
as wonders to allow us breath
between the emotions –
and then marvel at each vision
a winking evening star
or a dew covered rose
born of our dreams
