surrenderme

in pools
of Sunday morning tears
light is bent to will –
souls are met
across this sweet divide
as one to place remembered
how I knew you then
I was lost
and you were at
my side

as longing –
there the winter rests
a lonely twilight grieves
silent as the dew
to wonder how –
eternity returns us
webs of lacey lace
the soul awake for hearing
each whispering of now

of graces
I’ve not many –
but faith to understand
as somewhere still
they wait my coming home
boards worn thru
by worry –
wicks so very low
winds recalled to carry me
by every name
I’m known

. . .

longing ~

storyme

by others I was known
do you recall
my name
ash and honeysuckle
maple
cedar
rain –
stayed with you
lay with you
how it was you knew
the same I was
as yesterday
you knew

the ache of
where we’re going
as pulled into the night
spilling over canyons
with our light
flush against
your wonders –
swollen heart to please
carved by your initials
my release

into the song
almost unsung –
birds of chatter cling
above the boughs
where once
we loved –
do you recall
my name

. . .

forgiven ~

returntome

beyond the still
of sorrow –
eternal bleeds the red
discovered as another
perfect rise –
forgiven us
the getting on
of running us away
beaches press
a once remembered shore
feathers float
as suffering –
was here we meant
to lay
tears are flowing now –
a wiser sun
than e’er could be
forsaken
by the breaking
passed between
– the river rolls us
backward
to the rain

. . .

the way of wish ~

fleeting

they’ve given place
a time I knew –
and ashes to the meadow
some nights
the wind blows backward
through the gale
reminding me of somewhere else
I stood a moment
longer –
and listened for a truth
I’ll never tell

for all you know
I wonder still –
how much of me is gone
the way of wish and reason sweet –
a path forgot to home
the same as when
we lingered
then –
with will for destiny

dreams
that I’ve stopped dreaming
a place somewhere
of me

would e’er the signs
be sworn to show –
or verses spilled just right
rhyming rules
in silent pools –
tis there I hold you tight
would circumstance
another chance
where’er our stars be crossed

ashes float
on northern streams –
alight with wishes lost

. . .

forgotten to dream ~

atlast

forever of taking
a step beyond night –
where heavenly angels
take tea
with the stars
warmed by the dreams
I’d forgotten to dream –
and given to name
what I knew
of my fears

to choose
without choosing –
a touch nearly gone
yields to these hands
a sweet ancient
way –
reaching to bloom
in colors of song
as one now the map
of soul
unbetrayed

. . .

nothing I can say ~

wherestill

how tender
my returning –
a dreamer to the end
narrow ways
go dark
before the dawn
wielded me another truth
story holding still
weary grace
within my silence sits

calm
against the clawing
as ringing now
the bell
tho somewhere I am come
in search of light –
suffering a shadow
raked into the fields –
blazing red in grief
for winter golds

marry me
before I say
will be my last surrender
a garden of intent
is wilted there
cut the vines and lean the fence
near to worlds
of waiting –
as light to pierce
the only name
I wear

. . .

aging lace ~

knewmewhen

for years
I thought to leaving
some rush into the night
would heal my heart –
and bear me to the light
a silver moth
of aging lace
surrendered to the flame
circles ’round me
gathering
the same

as was before
some other me –
some witness I can’t speak
of love I know
would beckon me –
beyond the realm of sleep
as stones were laid
beside me there –
as purple paper worn
now and then –
are light
before the morn

with wonder to the reasons
why I keep
what I can’t find
when all I’ve known
is leaving you
behind
peacocks march
a broken porch –
smoke rings chill the dark
lines are drawn –
and still I run across

the moment
of permission –
the corner where I stood
wishing you
and swearing you no good
but for me
a truth unspoken
gives pause most every time
I find the gate left open
while making up
my mind

. . .

part of all we knew ~

still

beyond the mossy comfort
of tear-stained I love yous
leaving settles
cold against the night
hands to fold in reverance
for moments come before
hearts are made to ache
the soul’s delight

how it is
the whole becomes
a part of all we knew –
stripped to bare
our reason for remorse
angels watch while lonely mourns
whispers born of bliss
sorrow keeps a plate
of fortunes sworn

the ways to know
of all we lose –
much the more we keep
as dreams resolve a heaven
we know best
sleeps beside the willows
rattles now the winds –
love returns to soothe
our restlessness

falling forward
somewhere else –
leaned into the fold
as there the names remember
us again
lonely needs no lesson
of where we passed the time
or voices ringing silent
o’er the bed

where the skies ~

did you know

when I am lost
to find me –
along the ways I roam
soaring past the rocks –
beyond the stars
counting points
defied to strains
of wilderness I keep
floating without chord
into the dark
laced as silver minnows
willow tied to elm
evergreen reminding me
come down –
wishes now are troubled
sailors seldom knew
where the skies –
and where the shore
was bound

. . .

destinies recast ~

bliss

there’s a strangeness
to becoming –
from imprints of the past
a truth made strong
(by little lies)
as destinies recast

in azure blue
reflection
before the moon was lost
shadows split the night
(with memory) –
as stars uncrossed

by the weight
of desperation
were longing (eternal)
come to rest –
hopes are rearranged (by one desire)
and held by less

a fleeting proposition
unremembered by design –
dreams returning
(carried by the soul)
are of one
divine
