passions

remember this
some sunny day –
hiding in your closet
folded me with jackets
flannel grey
left alone
with all I’ve known
of cooler nights to follow
pieces packed
in cardboard –
suitcase empty now

photographs
of black and white
almost I was leaving
when the best of all
the times
we stumbled on

remember this
the waking up
in sheets of sweetest linen
floating places west
along the ridge
wing’ed crest of falling
pirouette of angels –
forgotten to the sorrows
written here

in ruby red
where slippers fell
the same as ink to Monday
I signed my name
in cursive next to yours
swirls and loops
and hula-hoops –
take of me for chances
a way of walking
somewhere still –
how can I be gone

remember this
the squeaky boards
of sleepless nights returning
circle now the ashes
with the flame
purple light
as passion glows
warm into the marrow
worried not the seeker
unafraid

destinies
as we conceive –
sit the night for supper
folded now our tendencies
are making room
for grace
love remains
in coffee stains –
ribbons to the saucer
lights beyond
where darkness fell
as wishes on the pond

remember this
of everything –
one more kiss (and tell me)
words to disbelieving –
have kept us here
always

story

of places remembered
to starlight undimmed
mysteries falling away
holy reminders
of moments so sweet
heaven returning
always

snowflake and winter
held long our dreams
of passing before
as a sigh – we remain
ripples of one
another we knew
tho held not to memory
by name

silent the still
of eternity dawned
tears from the face
of the sun –
glows still the night
of a far away star
breathing as love
into one

sweetestblush

swayed beneath
the mistletoe
my daddy brought me
Sunday –
was wound atop
a cedar tree
and rescued by his bow
was not a place
for ribbons
just the scent
of something magic
a life so sure
of living
would find in me
a kiss

day of nights ~

veil

of dates and times
the map considers –
rivers span eternities
frigid depths
of icy splinters
ring the gates of destiny

compass worn
by wishful thinking
one more day of nights
shall come
burning white within the darkness
gathered now our souls
to home

mystery denied solution
what of life
is waiting still
what of breath
shall leave me living
more than time
the moss to seal

pardon come
with sure forgiveness
all that was – is now
the same
rivers flow
eternal waters –
carry life
from whence we came

signs

where
and now
the page is turning
hands are moving back in time –
stories of afar remembered
last we were
the first to find

hand in hand
afraid for nothing –
gentle rains to hide our tears
fragile breath
to winds returning
– signs of life
surrendered here

essence come
and whispers parted
questioned why for this
we knew
something more than
stories telling –
answers lost
in passing through

verses bound
to one another –
secrets to each holy place –
sacred blossoms
fall together –
as seasons intervened
by grace

silent words
are want for hearing
longing begs one last release –
ribbons loosed by everafter –
float the dark
beyond the trees

broken dawn ~

trust

dare the night
betray the shadows –
needles passing time away
spun of wishes
silken sliver
as moondust
on my pillow lay

urged to sleep
by stark confession
of seasons passed
the way we came
broken dawn
against the dresser
leaks to blue
the windowpane

hours nest
beside the worries –
moments bound
by fate somehow
spoke the moon
beneath the shiver
who shall come
to save us now

starlight streams
on sheets of emerald
stretched beyond
the reach of night
wishes fade as one
to stillness –
weaving shadows
into light

. . .

proof

ten thousand nights
a dinner date –
and coffee
without creamer –
resorting now to places
I’ve become –

magnitude
of differences
fit don’t feel the same
and sometimes
names get lost beneath
my tongue

destinies
I can’t decide –
fates beyond my faith –
roads are going nowhere
let me go

strange
the lure of silence
when all I know are words –
kept beside
tho who remembers now

pages folded
back to front –
and found a time for being –
as where I am
was always come for me

looking back
across the path –
breezes to my shoulder
voices call
from just around
the bend

edges ~

watching

as eternal
my beholding
to the places still I go
tho pushed between
these edges
sharp and deep
as truth was
held beneath the tides
to bring the drifter home –
and set against
the lover’s sacrifice

as dark
the ways to travel
and worried there alone
of where the stars were leading
(let them lead)
casting long
our tattered nets
into the sweet divide
made between this world
and those beyond

fragile
as the ancient cord
barely seen at all –
tho stretched to hold
of all together now
as one to understanding
let here the thread be cut
as each was sworn
another time
to be

longing
keeps a whisper
to remind us of the rest
when songs were sang –
and hearts
knew only one
garner me
the sacred cup –
let my body rise
beholding to the night
would come for me

. . .

fire to the nest ~

again

will come as breath
forgotten –
permission to believe
a strangeness to the light
already formed

as silences
remember us –
lifetimes since the first
as fates to fade again –
the waiting weights

when lightning splits
the dark apart
and sets fire to the nest –
will stormclouds chase the night
as longing unconfessed

to understand
as never could –
words can barely touch –
the essence of a moment
lost in time

within the dawn
will surely be –
colors once we knew
returning every time
we close our eyes

moments ~

stirring

sit to quiet
the morning sun –
here to cool the shade
stay without e’er a need
for words

watch across
the lazy field
as wings to breakfast
fall –
spiraling provision
to the light

rest
before the day returns
be as one with me –
the redtail hawk
and raven –
the ancient evergreen

smile
and I will feel it –
by the telling
in your hand
wrapped in mine
awaiting time to slow

mark the way
and I shall find us
waiting here this night –
sharing then
the gifts of love

beneath
a patient moon
