whereverIam

were our story
without ending –
the road would lead us on
forgotten not the turning
or the fall
reminders of eternity
wink and they’ll be gone
hands to hold –
and one to change
it all

eighty years
or sometimes ten –
a garden loved by thorns
a rusty metal rocker
hides the shade
baskets stained by picking
weeds to bind the fence
bees are telling
every plan
we made

a worn out
sunday prophet –
folds his bible near
tho none can read the name
it used to hold
leather bound by promise –
love would get us through
trees are bending
double
in the cold

I been down
and got back up –
to know
(I know) of love
of seasons undecided
by the light
of passing into paradise
to live beyond these days
gardens yield for tending –
somewhere sweet
tonight

. . .

warned ~

dreamboat

to tip the moon over
with silver desire
wings where stars
used to gleam
darkness rocks gentle
the cradle of soul
– canopy stitched
of dragonfly dream

shades of imagine
we fitted with glass –
sails of whisper and lace
cedar white oars
cut ribbons of black –
as streams
 sought the night –
our fault to erase

the magical mistress
of wonder made real –
storybook telling
of where we might go
just past the edge
of all they had warned
is a world made
of nothing
we know

. . .

waiting this too long ~

remembered

were the flowers blooming
yellow –
last night while in my dreams
I stood beneath
a cross
and watched it rain
I remember someone saying
we’d never be the same

cried but I’m not sure
I felt a thing

of taking
I’m not ready
to decide my journey done
hearts to touch
and winds I haven’t seen
blown as north
above the pines
to split my world apart

the universe
remembers me
the same

lying down
or standing up –
waiting this too long
the dream is worn
to pieces –
by my night

. . .

for your taking ~

lastyouknew

forsaken the fence
the twice broken steps
– eyes peeking up from beneath
memory loosed
by the passing of time
clothesline
and thimbles –
blessings bequeathed

by a hand
taking hold
a back nearly bent
by gardens run over by weed
nights held to secret
as the bible brought down
– forgiven to wander
as verses decreed

I’ll know
will you know me –
as was then I’ve become
for your taking –
how far from here gone
will grace foreshadow
where whispers remain
or roads be reminded
another way
home

the last I was passing
some years
almost now –
forgiven of burdens
some stranger took in
held me for keeping
I barely recall –
tho you knew
of my wander
to find you again

as a place
in the woods
once we slept
with the stars
and made of their fortunes
a story of grace
paths rarely journeyed –
you gave every one
as truth coming down –
heaven displaced

by the hone
of my beating
were there more – yet the same
as names given honor
in still silent prayer
fueled by a memory
of old crooked boards
– might I wake
in my slumber
to follow you there

. . .

fragileflight

as one
to this reminded
the air I lean into
breath where not a one
our last became
silence spills
into the place
senses lent to word
knew me not –
or reasons why
I came

touch
o more than touching
would I recall just when
verses moved
my weary soul to flight
have me not
the wherewithal
to know as I am known –
flowers bloom
within the darkness
light

make of me
the twilight bent
o’er places I am home
rumors of some other mystery
washed upon
these eager sands
shores
no longer mine
remnants of a truth
I’m sworn to be

. . .

unremembered ~

surrenderme

in pools
of Sunday morning tears
light is bent to will –
souls are met
across this sweet divide
as one to place remembered
how I knew you then
I was lost
and you were at
my side

as longing –
there the winter rests
a lonely twilight grieves
silent as the dew
to wonder how –
eternity returns us
webs of lacey lace
the soul awake for hearing
each whispering of now

of graces
I’ve not many –
but faith to understand
as somewhere still
they wait my coming home
boards worn thru
by worry –
wicks so very low
winds recalled to carry me
by every name
I’m known

. . .

last_leaves_by_tadzio89-d5op6a1

come the call
of destinies
whene’er the quiet calm
as needles
neath the tender trees –
were ancient secrets sewn
tho burdened not
the storied lips –
with versions of the truth
stilled the heart
from beating
one last time

frail the myth
of memorize –
as curs’ed ways we fell
with worry not
for leaving with the sun –
breezes blow
across into
arms of sweet refrain
breath has come
another dream
to save

. . .

how would I know

were fate without reason
might you stay for a while
and read to me pages
once weaved into line
of mystery scored
to the back of your hands
and tenderness written
inside

of miracles felt
to the passing of spring
– petals defined
by the pulling apart –
moments so fleeting
a lifetime I lost
waiting
my breathing

to start

tonight
would you love me
thru the falling back in
with the whispering wonder –
of truth melting skin
a remembrance of always
when the last shade
is drawn

even now –
would you love me
again

. . .

doyouremember

is there a moment
surely come
when tears no longer fall
with memory of ache
– of days gone by
straight the fleeting arrow
of time is sailed away
and floats to only this
direction home

dried against another
quilts and woolen sheets
married was a smile
to know the way –
evening waits in coral shades
of everything
we know
seasoned by a memory
of tears

. . .

a moment one ~

rememberme

however this decided
were other times I knew
of places come –
as heaven waited for
knew the feel of falling
soft against the moon
of nights –
another breath
we shared before

grieve for me
stay with me
dream and I shall find
the place where once your
tired body lay
flush against my longing
two of us no more
a moment one –
as forever
fell away
