shall I wait
or shall I slumber –
taking all
of time
I know
into worlds
beyond I wander –
into life
beyond I go
kept apart
and sewn together
by a moment
so divine
stitched of want –
as darkness gathered
to warm a heart
the same
as mine
who am I
what name is given
was a girl
a woman now –
was a place
beyond my knowing
come again
for me
somehow
pages bent
the years by passing
ribbon sky
to mark the way –
paths are worn together
waiting
– love we kept
to give away
. . .

of knowing
what is keeping
the heart
tied up
with thorns
– a place
beyond the realm
of sanity
moves this sun
to rising –
grieves the almost
moon
– another
one more time
I thought to go
pardon this
intrusion –
worry not your will
to names and dates –
maladies of stone
held apart
by living –
eternity as one
how it is I know –
where you have
gone
beyond the feel
of shadows –
crowded round
my steps
beyond the fence
– tis all
that I have left
of signs
unwelcome graces –
my once or twice
with you –
lines were crossed
– was nothing
I could do
but pull
a chair
and sit a spell
with verses
growing cold
– was here before
the words
were catching
hold
. . .

tiny pearls
were wishes made
one night before the summer
was rained upon
the meadow –
let me in
whispering a story
lived I not for long
chances took
and I am here
again
silent
spools the ruby red
feathers to the limb
while just a bit
aways
the blue
becomes
resolved to something
bigger
floating to the ground
swept beneath
the sleeping winter
dawn

crossed I once
an empty field
before the evening
blue
– worried not
for where the path
might lead
would restless
bring me home to find another
captive as a wing
within my wish
trace me not
from memory
of this (to come again) –
from where I was
returned
when prayers were said
before the night
was pulled to shade
a whisper ceased
to matter –
yellow held her hands
above the flame
where black
the spinner
cursed the taste
of silk
shadows shift
beneath the grey
wherein the light
was less
than I could pass
remembering
to see
. . .

would for the worst
the rest betray –
the coming back
to wander
would trade for none
the imprint won
by promise torn assunder
reborn again
a lifetime more –
and cast them out
as vile
removed the burden
judgement made
for every firm denial
a dime or so
would three or four
be wealth to one of these
or kindness fit
as words so soft –
each sorrow to release
into this lowly circle
was drawn for us
in time –
forgotten not the reasons
– every coming back
to find
the one to wait
with arms held wide –
eyes are blazing bright
remembered for
another day
beyond this chance
delight
were not for them
or for the clouds
who passed
the way with you –
were angels watching ever
come to know the world
you knew

bowed against
a vow unspoken
hands are holding
(now I know)
where the path
was meant
to wander
sweet and golden
sure to home
somewhere
yet
they seek
permission –
tho granted
not for one (as I)
lives are weaved
of blissful
sorrow
borrowed
threads –
each sweet goodbye
who shall
want
for this reflection
breath to wait
the fading light
souls we saved
ten thousand (mattered)
are rushed
by faith
into the night
. . .

how quietly
the noreast winds
wrestle with the pines
whispering
of southern shores
and sea
secrets passed
from one
the other
how was where
and why
the truth is held
in silent reverie
against the boughs
beneath the strain
of seasons
gone before
tho not a one
can tell the story
all
from pieces
held together
by the memory
of wind –
hymns we brushed
against the bark
will echo
past
the fall
. . .
