whereandIwas
tellme

how sweet
the moment
when morning awakes
and rolls from her bed
in the dark
sweated and thirsty
for one more
refrain
lost to the memory
of destinies
done
recalling her touch
of linen to lace
from a place
by the window
in blessing she comes
by way of the wonder
where dew
paints the dawn
where light
shines her love
on the sun

One of my favorite people passed last fall, and yet it feels no different than when he was here.

I believe George was one of the most engaging people I’ve ever known, and he thought I, one of the wisest.

I must note that’s not a part of the reason for his being one of my favorite.

Our relationship was built on the simple notion that it was allowed to be. When we talked, there was no room for agenda, responsibility, or ego. We loved one another, but the words need never be spoken. We knew – in our souls, in our hearts, in our bones.

Funny how it happens that when you rid your relationships of competition, jealousy, expectation, rules – you make more room for the thing that matters most – LOVE.

I once commented to my daddy that it was amazing how love worked. You could love as much as you thought possible, but if you allowed it, each and every day you’d not be surprised to find that you loved even more.

Even the poet has no perception of just how much the heart can hold.

. . .

beyond the reach
of worry
beyond each new
regret
the heart remembers
how the soul
can sing

angelshere

in a swirl
of fading twilight
I’ve seen
the sparrows dance –
as music
lays beneath
the evergreens –
lullaby
devoid of line
is left of words unsaid
caught within
this sacred reverie
as circles
drawn to cedar –
proof of lifetimes gone
was there I dreamed
the dream of evermore
of swells
and realms –
and canyons
of time endeared
to none –
fingers
feathers –
flight
a moment stilled
within
the fading light

beneathmythunder

I’ve heard it said
and felt it here –
beneath the place
where blood is tamed
red as crimson
– words are raised
to fill a different rhyme

I’ve known
without discussion
of somewhere else
I am –
an evening breeze
to move the trees –
a shimmer
through the pines

I’ve come this way
ten thousand walks –
lives before
this one alone
to stand beneath
a night of ancient stars

whispered names
I breathe again
while wishing –
once I knew

another day
is baked to clay
beneath these shoes
brand new

auburncomes

it seems
for every
thing we learned –
another
was forgotten
pages bare
ten thousand
lonely nights –
perched
beneath
the wake me up
stories writ
of heaven –
sing to me
as songbirds flock
silent into
light

. . .

places we’ve been ~

beyond words

I’m the daughter
of a son
a tender petition
an echo
where promise
once moved on the wind
a wave from the marrow
river of my heart
spoke
in the language
of soul

to your soul

a moment
returning
to one never lost –
how sweetly we feel
when cleared
from the past
remembered as whole
to places we’ve been
touched
without touching
eternally when
we were held
as a secret –
passed without word

from a light
just beginning
to burn

. . .

seed ~

busy me
with breathing
broken vine
of write me down
strain
to tell (again)

these stories I’m become
(the memory)
of tears
shed to seed the
only morning after

where thunder –
silent strumming
tho none (but one) can hear
wings against this waking
remind my soul
(commit my heart)
to dream

night birds
just beyond the reach
of reaching (into day)
secrets
sworn to flannel
rest beneath my
willing

words
(where none
are needed)
beyond what love
can say

asIamstill

from a breath
another came
a wheel beneath the potter
a dream where once
I danced
and you reclined

beneath a bed
of evening stars
watching as I spun
round about
a lazy winter down

kisses
where each planet
grew
black against
your shining
a single song
whereby I learned
my name

come
and I’ll remember you
when days are
gathered near
when nights I reach
to find
the place
we made

bellbuckle2012

winter was ne’er
for the fragile of heart
and yet I remember
so clearly the day
clouds were laid over
a hole in the sky
blackbirds were telling
of lovers by name
a destiny curs’ed
and frayed
unknown to believers
weaved into faith
when last I was here
– as time
without place
as touch unrepented
warmed by the still –
a blossom untested
til now
november
was never the story untold
repeated in
chorus ten thousand
tongues old
played for the one
without memory of less
truth held in check
by the coming back
round
to dreams we’ve
forgotten
somehow

grotto

in the swell
of a moment
forever one light
was the cool
morning mist
to my face
a lifetime
surrendered
as ages to stone
arms
like a breath
pulled around
here I am
held as forever
loosened to rhyme
so sweet now the dew
neath my feet
stars falling soft
as the last time
I wished
was the first
to remind me
of love
