love could be that way
so far from understanding
standing right in front of you
lost just the same
the ache of just imagine
where I’ll be
come supper time
when destiny surrounds you
forgotten now
my name
. . .

whisper light
into my heart –
breathe against my breast
write your verses tender as a sigh
low that I might harken
when nights to lonely fall
as stars beneath
an ancient heaven
sprawl
speak
so only I can hear –
make your story mine
relearning truth
from kisses –
life where
souls entwine

daylight steals her dewy breath
begs the blossoms bloom
with colors of ten thousand summer songs
brushed into a tapestry
laced with rich perfume
the soul’s delight
held captive by the wind
dusted to the mountain tops
swept upon the sea
gardens burst familiar –
as children born
of eve
. . .

wait for me
when spring returns
beyond this morning after
beyond a time
I know will come
some day
when verse
has lost its meaning
rhyme
I struggled so
to find the words
we traded long ago
beyond the plea
remember
by lifetimes worn between
wait for me
if you don’t mind
in dreams
beyond this dream
. . .

departed
as the want for more
when seasons passed between
the shoreline
and the essence born of dreams
silence swirls
in shades of pale –
shadows skirt and scatter
were not for this
a promise
once we made
to come again
to know anew –
the power of surrender
as crushed to shells
along a distant strand
beauty hides
in early tides
flowing outward
ever –
to meet the sun
once lusted
by the light
. . .

I have no need
for promise –
words without the strength for this
a vow unspoken
whispered into pillows
when I’m missed
a call across the orchard
let the willing heart remain
without the want
for yesterdays –
when welcomed home again
a porch that needs repairing
a fence I cannot own
vines a verse becoming
streams of marigold
pull me back
a lazy hawk
where sunday morning glows
arms to reach around me
another hand
to hold
. . .

I’ve come slow
into the moment –
was it this
was the first
of all I’ve known
what love
what kiss
remembers me the fondest
rambles through the night
o’er distances
made nothing by the dawn
by sunlight
through a window
warming shadows
on the wall –
by hands repeating
every word
we missed
. . .

do you stutter
when surrender
finds its way
onto your tongue
is promise left to bleed
outside your door
when the choice
for everafter
makes a case for one more day
a longing sweet
as any
come before
do you dry your tears
while sorrow
makes a home inside your soul
do you lie awake
to wonder
over words
that you haunt you so
is there anything
remembered –
of the life you dared to dream
were your plans for love
forsaken
in your quest for all
it means
. . .

how gracious time
with all her ways –
to spread a comfort o’er me
when nights
their darkness gathers
to my bed
I recall a time
ten thousand more
as breath when I was dying
hands around my hands
a kiss upon the head
dreams of somewhere
I was yours
for miles
the pathway beckoned
a springtime breeze
swirling blossoms round
til all I knew
was dancing –
two and back again
within your arms
high above
the ground
…
April 6th – Two years since my daddy passed. His real birthday. ❤

let go my words
my eager heart
remind me now what was mine
take of this
another kiss
just before the morning
when curved against your spine
we reminisce
on long agos
and beg me stay
until the clock is broken
I’ll just close my eyes
for a little while
I swear
let me dream
where dreams are all
of you
