Was a moment
I remembered –
to know we were the same
as destined
I was come
to wear your name.

Safe within
this prophecy
of light His hand to write
– stories yet becoming
of our life.

Of lifetimes
not so many –
even now the past
so dear –
as where we were
when first
I held you near.

The first to keep –
these hands to know
of graces to remember.
Love –
that first sweet breath
of spring –
still lingers
on December.

 ~ ~

Author’s Note: Written for the grandparents
of a dear friend – celebrating 76 years together.
Happy forever, Charley and Lyz.

lullabies seldom
we tether by word
just a feeling
of wanting
with not much to say
tiny white stitches
hold us
together –
feathers to fly us
away

will I
sometimes
be remembered
as spring
as blushing to laurel
the ways we became
in joyful surrender –
tell me again
of places you know
where stars
have no names

remembering

would e’er the truth be hidden
in hands
I long to hold
or stories known
where ending –
love begins
swept along on destinies
found our way to home –
light is folded passion
to the skin

would e’er I choose
these aches to still –
to free this sacred vow
to gather now
with will to lose the same
as blossom without berries
blackbirds sweep the sun
winds resound –
but they don’t know
my name

would e’er there be
arms so wide
would hold eternity –
or count the times returning
for a kiss
would suffer
every might have been
for one more letting go
love is come from moments
sorely missed

whereIgo

had I known
of this returning –
when times before we loved
so unaware
of stars beyond my sleep
where dreams evaded dreaming
of worlds we left behind
counting threads
to more than cotton sheets

fragile rhyme
suspended
as laces thru the pines
whispers
lost to hearing – beckon me
with want for everafters
laid me down somewhere
nights I walk
with all that is
to be

time has passed
but not for me –
the tower bell still rings
and roses blush
where once you walked
with me

of moments
not so many –
tho lifetimes now it seems
between the touch
of letting go
remembered us to
dreams

I can’t be sure
(I know you know)
I will live again –
for you
echoes fill the loving dawn
as lonely falls
the dew

Author’s Note: Written for two extraordinary women –
both who suffered losses a year ago today.
May you be blessed and may this day
be a celebration of life and love that found its way
to your door.  May you live within the hope
for another spring.

how can it be –
the answer
awaits the seeker (seeking)
empty hands
(are reaching for) the proofsunrise_by_dralik-d48ydks
a mystery of absolute
(we thought the world
was changing)
a prophet come
revealing (us) the truth

how can you know
I’ve wondered (so)
spent my best repenting
words were never long
tho others lay
folded (as a letter)
into my wilderness
made of heart –
(as dreams were) fell away

lingered now
a sacred place
almost (but not) forgotten –
to find my way –
(another  passing) through
jasper blooms to paths
of stone
(lovers sleep) in
silence
at last to know –
(the one I sought is) you

of reasons why
and there the answers –
for time (this time)
to contemplate
the welcome wrap
of all we wanted –
destinies
remit to fate

who knows how
and I won’t tell them
you were here
tho still you are –
restless
as a nightbird calling
come – I’ve left
the door ajar

let me share
this everafter –
bring the blankets
– leave the bed
I’ll be waiting
wrapped in silence –
find me where
the stars are spread

of ache –
I’ve no memory
but for love remaining still
beyond this night
what sorrows shall persist
as shadows on the coming back
of all I know is true –
life is more than
names we wore –
tis moments known
of bliss

living goes
the ways of death –
tho some things never change
the autumn night
weaves flannel
on my heart
spring is written
every place –
my feet are turning green
as dandelions blowing
in the yard

were heaven need
of time or place –
I knew of you this way
where passions still –
a touch would bring me ’round
across the great dividing
beyond the evening
storm –
awaiting me
a moment to be
found

moments

forever now
eternities
waiting to become –
the same as moments
yesterdays
we were

quiet
on the meadow
as morning secrets burn
through the glass
as prisms
on your skin

stories
not pretending
tell of us somehow –
for years they’ll wonder
how it was
we knew

the moon
was surely watching –
as stardust on my breast
words I never heard
them sound
so sweet

life is come
and in the place
we’ve put aside
to keep –
sitting now in pieces –
as morning light
to love

breathe
and I will find you
tho the way be dark and long
tho the road ahead
may curve
into a world you don’t belong

speak
and I will hear you
doesn’t matter what you say
wherever love is whispered
there is more
for which I pray

sing
and I will dance you
tho my steps be far from grace
beneath the ball
was just the moon
to take with stars our place

love
and I will know you
as I am
by faith alone
of moments left
to wonder why
I come to bring you home

breathe
and I will find you
