of places becoming
the long way to home –
and a time of reflection
wherever I’m gone
more than these
I have nothing –
nothing more than of words
and hands to make heaven
a voice to be heard

of stories
retelling
of reasons to know
what I’ve sworn to remember –
was a grace to let go
give the world
of my riches
for the poor shall be paid
from the life I was making
when the clouds slipped
away

I shall wake
as another
one day not so long –
and right what was written
to save what was wrong

give me land
give me orchards –
let me fall
as I will –
as a stone to the waters
some other to fill

as a chorus
where angels
are come to delight –
a thought still becoming
as skin burned to light
I shall know
when each sorrow
falls new to the ground –
as love is returned
and makes
not a sound

were the banks
overflowing
with green velvet lace –
and stones
whiter polished
by the river’s erase
in the rushing of thunder
as songs to the trees
were blossoms
just starting
their love to release

never more
to be noticed
let the waters yet rise
and ashes be scattered
beyond winter skies
lest this name
be forgotten
as a bittersweet time
when I left to the rapids
my fate to refine

from cool
crystal glaciers
my yesterday flowed
through the valley
of mountains
my ankles – my toes
til the blue
almost broke me
with icey remorse
when a drop of forever
took this spirit
off course

rushing long
into something
more than will to pretend
was the sea
I was waiting –
my life to begin
as ways without reason
passion churns with the tide
lest I drift thru
december –
this chill to abide
…

there’s a moon
on the pasture
hoarded by willows
who told of another
to balance the blues
silvery shades
of pewter and diamond
ripples regarded
as glass looking through

tis a world
of unraveled
the seeds from the soil
the wish from the falling
of stars all around
poetry plucked
from pointy black fingers
briars embracing
the blossom of sounds

meticulous verse
at the heart of our musing
pushed from these hands
to the soft folded wing
enchanted by story
of journey releasing –
words without rhyme
ten thousand to sing

as bark sets the future
of cider to winters
patterns to pass
from light years to why
there was more to the water
than drink for the pasture
a mirrored confession of love
for the night

a sudden bloom
of autumn brushes –
silver ribbon wrapped
the blue
was pulled atop
my morning stutter –
bled my heart
with thoughts of you

pulled aside
the muddy shoulder
watched as life went streaming by
held for years
the need for saying
let me go –
or let me fly

take of these
these fragile pretties –
something more
beyond the rise
gypsy moon
and blackbird switches –
thorns grown over
sweet goodbyes

prop the window
up with promise –
drifting past
the place once knew
eighteen shades of red
to sunday –
somewhere now
they grieve the truth

bible verses
tattooed scripture –
rings my wrist
reminders still
of where the perfume
crossed my longing –
drunken skin –
impatient will

stolen clovers
luck for nothing –
crushed beneath my naked toes
searching signs
a black horizon –
start the wind
and let me go

…

of these ancient bones
and dirt poor roads –
paths denied me
leaving
were none to find
of left behind
awaiting to atone

as softly as a morning swoon
fingers to the curtains –
were lifted high the veil
of almost gone

speak to me of symentry
and places not forgotten –
leaning walls
and papers golden pale
spin for age the legend
of where we love forever
as distance I might come
to find you still

silver leaf
and poems started
now their jagged voice
betrayed –
light for me
the candle
was meant for kinder days
and where I was
unknowing – set me free

plant the seed
and crush the tiller –
seal the cross
with scarlet woes
mend the fence before I wander
back into –
the ways I know

of fear
I have no memory –
but for passions i reserved
and truth i know
(as e’er i know)
something i can’t say

the sweetest bliss
is moments here –
the weather suits my skin
tho cold was never threatened
by delight

flannel suits
and velvet dogs –
to chase my chills away
something clear
to numb my yesterdays

crooked boards
to lean the porch –
squeak beneath the rain
where vines are twisted tight
against my tune

mountain laurel
let me go
as breath to fill my sail –
stars align to windows
of my soul

whene’er I walk
the sea at dawn –
and wonder to the waves
what sailor might have sailed
from here
with not a thought to save

as restless spills
and ripples wash
from me the past is gone
tossed upon
some distant shore
or glistened still with foam

for one alone
and waited me
the journey to defend –
a story almost written
we surely tell again

as breezes blown
across my face –
my dress of cotton lace
remembers still
another time
I came to know this place

before the day
where sunset burned
as brightly as today –
where twilight danced above
the tides
to sweep my breath away

as silence keeps
a softer name than e’er I dare
repeat –
forgotten as were
broken shells
left scattered at my feet

rise and fall
and rise again –
be swift my love to learn
of messages rewritten here
awaiting our return

across the way
across the map –
dark and deep and dear
sighs are falling
somewhere else –
to echoes living here

get me back
before the morning
falls unnoticed to the lawn
e’er these dreams
resolve to keep me
to the places I’ve become

get me back
before the sunrise
set my feet on firmer ground
leave your essence
to remind me
of another solace found

get me back
tho I grow weary –
not for sleep my body aches
not for slumber
I’ve been missing –
would my senses lie awake

get me back
get me something
more than all
one moment holds –
every image made of heaven
stretched to fit
as love unfolds

get me back
I’ll be waiting
in the places you abide –
beyond the reaches
of forever
I’ll be waiting
with the night

get me back
before the leaving –
lest the daylight find me gone
counting everafter hours
come to sleep
upon the lawn

of days when I knew
you were waiting somewhere
running your fingers
o’er words written there
of those I imagined –
I cling to them still
and sleep within places
you rest unaware

as one with a moment
I can’t be forsaken –
by changes in weather
a shift in the wind
of love without time
or need for becoming –
as is
I am there
in your places
again

of mornings some place
much nearer than now
to sit in the quiet of night
with your name
resolved to a feeling
(I can’t understand)
while others I questioned
each reason the same

from the places you are
the places of me
are times when you think
on your own destiny –
do you wonder (I wonder)
sometimes until dawn
where I am –
how I know –
what of us will become

as it is
it is ever –
even now I am near
as your hand to the pages –
as a smile to your tears

loving arms
to remind you –
as was once you did me
when the dark
was surrounding  –
(you were something to see)

like the end
a beginning –
both the same (to my soul)
a whisper of promise –
was a dream
taking hold

anchored by threads
of faraway seasons
veils pulled aside to reveal
the divine –
provision of poetry
and bright wooly winters
November new better
the passing of time

held by the truth
and counted as curses –
returned from the care
of hands folded two
love has but memory
of one to the other –
pictures of living
with love shining through

spare me the stories
of futures negated
by something that somebody told
mornings grown harsh
by the threat of another
let not this measure
make waste of our soul

two were remembered
by places uneven
and signs
kept by moments unseen
seasons revealing
the pages already
were torn from our keeping
as now we conceive

where were we started
when looking for answers
a question
of living – a coming back home
as a mist on the orchard
a frozen green apple
made good the foretelling
of winters to come

where did we dream
what the occasion
would lead us so far
from the light we had been
telling of times
we spoke without speaking
and ran without knowing
we’d find us again
