softerstill

stretched across
uneven miles
words of yours and mine
faultless
waits the truth –
another time

with memory
of early wings
above the rafters
swelled
soft against
the silence of divine

beheld
in willing
wonder
a story yet untold
e’en now
the past is pressing
without sound

might I
for love
another save
of sorrows – none
so dear
shall take the place
of heaven
coming down

. . .

here ~

softer now

words
are scattered
o’er the page
others kept for naught
a distance
– more or less
as once
I thought

of letting go
the solitude
of ink beneath
each line –
songs without
the benefit
of rhyme

white
the twilight
whispers –
her icy tales of spring
tho here
and there –
a glistening
of wing

reminds me
how it is you knew
the ways
onto my will
breathing life
as warmth
into these quills

memory
defining verse
reason
found again
chimes are moving
– words
becoming
wind

the last time looking ~

awake

spools
and pearls
aging satin –
a pillow here
to lay your head
saved for me
the last time
looking
moments passed
with miles
ahead

tho twice the turn
of intuition
glances
but a whisper freed
knew not
why
my heart was broken
– why for you
my only need

gathered soft
for flight
or failure –
for wonders far beyond
this place
questionning
betrayed to answer
– how it was
I knew
your ways

tender now
the promise wearies
to stay
when there was more
to know
to keep of joys
which none could carry
– to rush beyond
the wanting
so

. . .

the way of march ~

crow-snow_600

held not
the feather
falling –
the winter
from the chill
a long night
how I held you then
as pardon given
will

as ashes
blown the way
of march –
of april sons
and fathers –
who am I to question
what the passing
seasons leave

as noted here
no more than this –
eternity
we opened
an understanding
more than I can say
once we were
together –
might the warmth
recall me now

holding
still
to lifetimes
worn away

remember
lest I ask you
for a memory
or two
a time before
our touching
held a kiss –
angels bent
to tell us
where and when
the way
we knew –

of all was left
a moment more
of bliss

pause ~

softerme (2)

winter weaves
a woolen blanket
threat beneath
the snow
warm the thought
of kisses
falling down
tender as
the willing
to remember
days gone by –
and there our purpose
waits
without a sound

preyed upon
prayed apart –
whispers read aloud
tho no one knows
the way of mine
for long
brushed against
convention –
waited thru the night
held you here
as rhyme against
my song

. . .

seventeen ~

surelyme

sworn to none
the letting go
some piece of seventeen
forty more and there
the coming back
to catch us up
with sweet surprise
familiar as our own

– as all I know
of places that I don’t

feather covers
tiny blooms
and all I ask – another
sunrise come
and I within the toast
of one more willing
bring me back
voices I remember
becoming this –
a song
beneath my bones

ancient glow
of amber fits
settled on the porch
close enough to mars
and he – my sin
forgiven when the morning
spreads our truth
around

wrapped unto
and warmed against
my fall

miles
and still unknown
the ways
october passed
melting into now
snow on skin –

as somewhere
I have noticed
comes without invite –
crossing into dreams
of seventeen

. . .

watching for a sign ~

justhere

left me here
the signs of age –
a road already worn
the ways of some
an ancient oak
retold
and I
for one
could never guess
the wisdom
you would carry
proof revealed
– some heaven
here
below

scattered ‘bout
these weary days
this plea
for something more
than e’er a page
a rhyme
could keep us fed
learned into
this passion
wherein your name
is kept
folded near
each page
upon my bed

sapphire tears
are hidden
by a questioning of light
of fear betrayed
with love
I couldn’t say
of where I’d be
when morning found
me watching
for a sign
when worlds beyond
our knowing –
fell away

. . .

all but taken ~

still

of breath
where north meets
south –
melted now
my skies
into the bluest blue
the softest sigh

reminders
have been making
their way
across the lawn
dew is all but taken
by the light

who
and there
you wander
again and yet
I knew
you’d come for me
and I would bear
your truth

love
the only reason
can move our hurts
to heal
falls into the
measure
of our one –
remembered
still

. . .

borrowed threads ~

closerus

bowed against
a vow unspoken
hands are holding
(now I know)
where the path
was meant
to wander
sweet and golden
sure to home

somewhere
yet
they seek
permission –
tho granted
not for one (as I)
lives are weaved
of blissful
sorrow
borrowed
threads –
each sweet goodbye

who shall
want
for this reflection
breath to wait
the fading light
souls we saved
ten thousand (mattered)
are rushed
by faith
into the night

. . .

beyond our knowing ~
