this one before –
this perfect any day
was offered me
the sun
became the night
returned the rain –
an ancient wind
to blow my body home
became to me a blessing
without name

of wonders come
within this one – a tear
a three leaf clover
a puddle not much deeper
than a grave
bury me
facing up
that I might see forever
that I might hear
this whisper
one more winter
to remain

strange the way
forever feels
as morning warns us home –
before the night
(is wrestled) from the bed
blooms are falling
(lazy)
reminders just the same
are fit inside a suitcase
(something someone said)

presence found
in golden pools –
perfume (once you loved)
is mine to keep –
these souvenirs (of time)
brush against my longing
when passed me
in the dark
were e’er there proof
(I knew) of one
divine

stories spilled
in silence –
as messages of light
reveal the ways
as years (we fall) between
whispers
(o I love you)
remain with me
tonight –
swept beyond my sleeping
(where you) dream

of almost never was
how close we were
before the morning came

for every sorrow
suffered –
the joy of once to touch
as breath to grieve
the keeping of her days
names and places
read aloud
how clear the songs we are –
moments worn
by memory
into grace

caught us up
in moments

were sorrows
not so many
tho bliss is kept apart
pressed into the creases
a destiny betrayed
honey bees are floating
out beyond the storm
love is come –
forgiven what we never could
repay

a gentle dawn –
tis there the promise sleeps
camped beneath
exalted arms of green
songs are lifted tender
of one more time we knew
of heaven here –
lifetimes pressed
between

however sweet
the knowing comes
in tiny purple petals
as blooms
the same as stars
our light returned
beauty swims in mystery
of longing never settled –
dreams are falling
somewhere still
we yearn

was slow to come –
seasons without measure
tides are rolled
tho somewhere –
sands are dry
light is danced above the waves –
please come home my darling
winds are blowing
verses to the sky

rise and fall
as distance easy –
will is washed away
of lessons – once we feared
the worst to know
sew your heart
inside my sleeve –
promise me to write
death will come
before my letting go

twilight pools
on broken shells
worlds beyond our reach
as tiny white
echoes gone before –
letters left of leaving
will find us here again
learning new –
once familiar shores

ancient fires to burn away
ashes from the stone

songbirds weep
for something

music plays

in the last
that would come
a southern magnolia
dusting the ground with her grace
felled by an instant
of uncharted treason
– who am i now
to remember this place

not far
yet forever
a night more shall be
passed in between
while we sleep
counting to memory
the passage of time
tis there i am yours
and you mine

held to each other
as soft winter rods
leaving our words
for the wind
a reminder of somewhere
we must have been other
to wonder
will wander –
to find us again

as pages
made holy –
this lesson divine
is more than a telling
how two became one
what of tomorrow
the past has betrayed
where will i be
when – at last
you are come
