storyme

between the cracks
where summer sweats
remembrance of the winter
as pink
our favored mittens –
(yesterday)
were granted us permission
to take of all we have
caught us up
in moments
 – breath is stealed
away

were sorrows
not so many
tho bliss is kept apart
pressed into the creases
a destiny betrayed
honey bees are floating
out beyond the storm
love is come –
forgiven what we never could
repay

. . .

spent ~

whoamItoknow

beneath this fragile
knowing –
splinters pressed into
the place of solace come
and who will know
of thought I never
spent to verse
words left out to dry
where time is gone
you must have seen me
fly

above the trees
between the clouds
beyond the reach of song
how many lives
awaited
for us here
I can’t be sure
I told you once
some things I can’t forget
– the color of your eyes
between my tears

tell me now
as you must know –
of moments
we have passed
when promised us a life
beyond these years
carry my
beleaguered soul
into the place of hands
hold my name
within the heart
you own

. . .

that holds my song ~

remainders

for this touch
to trade
the evening news
a voice I swear I know
sits within
the meadow of my soul

reminding me
of seasons past
times I couldn’t stay
surviving
for another –
to remember me
this way

in sheets
of softest flannel
tiny yellow blooms
are wrapped against
the place
that holds my song
just beyond the distance
sparrows fill the trees –
where dreams are lost
to others
I belong

soft the swell
of silence
asleep beneath the bed
wherein the past
is tempt to keep me here
violins are playing –
as crickets cry amen
flannel wills the darkness
disappear

. . .

beyond this set ~

asIhavewaited

dare me live
within this hope
of others – none as I
to keep your needs
unlock your cellar doors
as harnessed
by a memory –
became the only one
beyond this setting
shadow –
of loves we knew
before

as written by
the willing rush
of sun into the sea
as scarlet flame
immersed in sudden blue
time denied the keeper
stay with me
the now –
and I shall bring
forever home
to you

. . .

worry and wheat ~

wheatandworry

how could you know
unknowing –
of ways before we were
as light between the candle
and the flame
a touch of almost
nothing
fades without you here
how could you know –
my skin don’t feel
the same

as living unexpected
when thought my purpose done
fields are growing
over yesterday
grain is separated
golden from the chaff
as pieces
never meant
are blown away

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAmorning comes
remembering –
another dawn I lay
wrapped in softest linen
counted sleep
folded now to memory –
stored upon the shelf
take me down
as moments –
left to keep

. . .

briar bent ~

home

by mercy
I have wandered –
as a student to the light
remembered how it was
I came to be
a part of all creation –
what destiny have I
as sister to the myrtle
lark and leaf

how green the river
blood must flow –
to claim my heart anew
where mysteries of blossom
yet prevail
o’er bill and bark –
a briar bent
to wrap around me so –
tied with words
and not a one
to tell

cooler now
the summer path
awaiting for my feet –
a gentle breeze
made softer by my own
voice to greet
the mourning dove –
nightbirds sail beyond
as dreams are washed
into this sweet unknown

. . .

remembered to me ~

comeback

hold my soul
as one of longing
forgiven more than grace
divine –

will trust the darkness
fold you sweetly
into the heart
you hold of mine

take my hands
to know my sorrows –
martyred verse
unclaimed by word
one more time
will faith be tested
for prayers to listen
undisturbedsweettom

hold my heart
beneath the covers
warm to every place I know
there you are
begin –
just ending –
silence falls as rain
to snow

. . .

needs to tend ~

morningofbeginnings

from the first
a whisper came –
beheld me to november
to wishes
(you remember)
touch divine
a barefoot side of heaven –
as once I thought you knew
a dusted floor
where sunlight split
the pines

a cedar box
of rusted fame
with ne’er a truth to carry
the key is gone –
but for the lock I saved
china plates
will nothing match
these shades of sarsaparilla
blessings of
another time –
forgave

crooked boards
and needs to tend –
tho who will understand
the ways I came
to walk these fields alone
tempted into trouble
morning warms the same
the night so still –
that all the stars have gone

pieces

were memories
becoming this –
pieces not for barter
shall keep to nest
the coldest night we’ve known
guarded not for staying –
we kept inside too long
ancient fires to burn away
ashes from the stone

songbirds weep
for something
lost upon the winds –
music plays
tho I can’t hear a thing
wasted now the wanting –
for all I should have said
– the chill is come
to wrap around
my spring

. . .

more than a telling ~

started

in the last
that would come
a southern magnolia
dusting the ground with her grace
felled by an instant
of uncharted treason
– who am i now
to remember this place

not far
yet forever
a night more shall be
passed in between
while we sleep
counting to memory
the passage of time
tis there i am yours
and you mine

held to each other
as soft winter rods
leaving our words
for the wind
a reminder of somewhere
we must have been other
to wonder
will wander –
to find us again

as pages
made holy –
this lesson divine
is more than a telling
how two became one
what of tomorrow
the past has betrayed
where will i be
when – at last
you are come
