going

of worth
I have no season
no story left to tell
of roads I walked –
of lives beyond the veil
of streets
unnamed to history
a touch
recalls me still
where all I’ve known
of loving is revealed
into the page
where shadows fall
night birds weep and storm
into the swell where black
the locust swarm
with memory
of where I lay
and secrets I embraced
flannel sheets
are forests wrapped in lace
as once I was
remembered me
for reasons I’m not sure
kept within the circles
ancient sight
mystery of passion –
my wilderness afire
wings are raised
immortal to the night

. . .

Author’s Note: I’ve spent many a day
in search of an image for this, and have none to
show.  Only this.  Close your eyes – yes, that’s
the one.

. . .

on distant plains
a steady thunder –
black the haze
of rolling smoke
pounding verse
of wind and longing
wisdom from the past
rewrote

as solitude
the lone intruder –
witness come
with feathers bright
loving heart
of fear and honor –
casting spells
by firelight

justthis

there are places
without keeping
evidence of us –
yet sometimes there’s a breeze
that seems to know

of faraways
and couldn’t stays –
rings against the cedar
lines above the highway
lines below

wing’ed flights
beyond the lights –
there we touch again
whispering our secrets
in the cold

. . .

graces

long the night becoming
in shadows of the dawn –
stars await their moment
with the sun

love remains unspoken
as a cooling autumn breeze
gathered now in arms
of evergreen

circles of forever
are writ in quiet there –
reminders of the passing
– not the end

whispers of forever
sit for ages with the light
in silent sweet surrender
we remember why we came

. . .

round about

in the space where once
a longing –
was nursed
a hungry cat
and edges there were left
to tell the world
of where the end
was ending –
who would tend the grass
and where the towels
were folded
with the grey

a rocking chair
and angry rings
to curse an ugly table
a crystal bowl
would hold your habits
well –
reminders of another
took my breath
for supper –
turned the bed
and never said
a thing

verses read
all over –
some I can’t pretend
are meant to hold
another fool
as I
forgotten to a season
passed me through
November –
cooled my brow
and left my longing
fire

welcomehere

as one became
with longing –
and leaned into the light
was come before the dawn
to know me here
wrapped in quilts
of yestermore –
dreaming somewhere still
pressed against
the memory of a sigh

come to song
in silence sweet –
notes along the road
crest beneath
the sleeping blossoms there
sparkle as a moment once
reached beyond
the stars –
to gather our
reflection to the sun

here –
tho I can’t tell you why
or where the moon
is hiding –
a story yet untold
by tangled sheets
leave the realms of darkness
journey now to dream –
I’ll leave the window open
lest you stay

Because sometimes, we need reminders that the things that matter most aren’t the things that take up the most room.

May your day be blessed with moments of bliss, and may hearts that hold you wait patiently while you play.

My love,

Bobbie

missthemstill

of empty wells
and burned out places
something still
within remains –

of quiet truth
denied a singing
comes again
each silent
night

as falling fell
the ghost of ashes –
was grieved
for joy
our living much

full moons rise
to breach the morning –
forgotten now
the glow
of loss

. . .

fire

beyond the realms
of all we know
another waits
in senses
forever bloomed
immortal breath of fire

the steady beat –
with skies to walk
and naught
a thought to tarry
reserving us
reminders to become

of markers left
and letters carved
into a place
we passed –
what joy to find we’ve wandered
close to home

another day
this way resolved
to sit a while
in slumber
forsaken to the night
– the weary soul

uncharted there
from porch to post
burning stars so bright
ships are tracing
slivers of the moon

backward to
the wishing well
where there you are
the same –
a light within the current
– sacred stone

Author’s Note: Inspired (in part) by the following passage from
Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver…

“As long as we won’t commit to knowing everything, the presumption
is we know nothing…
he did not claim that God
moves in mysterious ways. Instead he seemed to believe,
as she did,
though they never could have discussed it,
that everything else is in motion while God

does not move at all. God sits still, perfectly at rest,
the silver dollar at the bottom

of the well, the question.”
