as one
to this reminded
the air I lean into
breath where not a one
our last became
silence spills
into the place
senses lent to word
knew me not –
or reasons why
I came

touch
o more than touching
would I recall just when
verses moved
my weary soul to flight
have me not
the wherewithal
to know as I am known –
flowers bloom
within the darkness
light

make of me
the twilight bent
o’er places I am home
rumors of some other mystery
washed upon
these eager sands
shores
no longer mine
remnants of a truth
I’m sworn to be

might you stay for a while
and read to me pages
once weaved into line
of mystery scored
to the back of your hands
and tenderness written
inside

of miracles felt
to the passing of spring
– petals defined
by the pulling apart –
moments so fleeting
a lifetime I lost
waiting
my breathing
to start

tonight
would you love me
thru the falling back in
with the whispering wonder –
of truth melting skin
a remembrance of always
when the last shade
is drawn

even now –
would you love me
again

these fields
have been my saving grace
how long
from waking stirred
to blur the lacey edges
come of sleep
will carry me
a lifetime more
than crystal stems
and longing
beyond the velvet echoes
of goodbye

given me direction
with one more
purple dawn –
peepers crowd beneath
the rafters now
warm the line
between the road
and where it was I knew
you’d find me here
with every want
made true

shadows
to an outstretched hand
spirit held by name –
as somewhere soft
this once
you fell into
the wonder
of awaking –
as a dream
beyond the night

as answer to a wish
made long ago

the softest white cedar
make of my heart
a box by your bed
string me to star-bound
signs of ascension
souvenirs fell
in moments of bliss

pull of my passions
enough to remember –
and wrap every limb
with ribbon just so
dream me from memory
magpie and marble
wake me the night
– my name on your lips

wind and rain –
a year without a summer
as fortune spun
of maple
– silver plum

barns awaited filling
was there
I held you softly
fit me
as I fit you well –
back against the dawn

slow the will
from starting
a spare of winter graces
nightime fell to whispers –
love me more

as garnered
by surrender –
one last golden autumn
as I am come
the ways
of summer storm

I am a dancer
spun into the trees
fingers born with memory
of the sun

fragile scarlet ribbons
taut beneath the sky
robins wake
to purple lullaby

am I unknown
as tumbled down
from the tallest tree
early now my resting place
to leave

forgotten to the splendor
of breath
against the night
forever finds
a lover
in pieces of the light

woke the heart
to thunder –
e’er this might be the day
I’d sleep til noon
and never say your name
never want
for more than this –
silence wrapped in sheets
daylight pulling breath
across my bars

once before
and here am I –
agreed another sun
for knowing you
how long the leaving for
midnight
seems to have no say
hands to trace the clock
rain is falling
somewhere
I can tell

of places
there’s another
universe the same –
though not so much
for grieving
roses bloom
sapphire to an endless sky
pillows seldom talk
– morning comes
and I’m not missing you

to stretch across

the ways
by which we came
with want to speak
of treasures
when gathered there
the same

who will know
who will say –
what proof we leave behind
are part of all we’ve
come to know

the words of starlight
are the secrets
lost generations ago
the rhymes of the moon
are lover’s promises
like the cooing of turtle doves
the nightingale brings hope
of tomorrow
the songs of whales
strangely distant and soft
are the keepers of destiny –
versed in irregular meter
that hastens the waves of the sea
movements to the whims of the moonlight
promises never meant
to keep
