foreverthis

sweet to my swaying
come home to my wine –
a long way
 forever
I can’t seem
to find
the note that you left
to the places
we lay –
would save us another
for falling away
surrendered
one sunday –
as secrets retold
to lie awake monday
with dreams taking hold
couldn’t be
what’s the matter –
can’t you see I don’t care
what of hurts
were just waiting –
a silence to share
as lifetimes made over
in moments of bliss
a note said you’re going
my touch
said you’d miss
a beginning just started
is waiting – who knows
what love
never mentioned
– is rain
to your soul

. . .

seduction

parse to the falling
– the taking
of dreams
‘cept for the one
I can’t understand
of winter come clean
in light
neath the pines
a shimmering moths
endeared by the snow

forgotten
the senusuous pull
of the flame
– and reason
the colors of pewter
and smoke
silken illusion
of places we loved
are folded by word
to the edges of night

parse to the falling
– the taking
of dreams

. . .

songs of the light ~

melted

longing returns
a patient intention
slipped past the gate
unaware of the moon
cursed as the dew
of hazardous mention –
greener the blades
were sicles
to swoon

red scarlet letters
lean toward the maker –
as folded their heat
to songs
of the light
graces made easy
as breath to the silence
where tenderness
waits our confession
of night

. . .

(one day) home ~

ballet

cooled to dust
the ways behind –
are written (new again)
of times before
we passed
along –
as secrets to the wind

tho never clear
(or spoke aloud) –
as words our trust forbade
crossed the heart
(that was my own) –
forevermore
to trade

for moments
(this) so precious few
eternities stood wait
as gardens wilted
(one more time)
the bloom
of heaven’s gate

let go for none
or sink to hide –
as tender places still
remembered now
the ways of love –
were destiny (fulfilled)

as ashes melt
an even tide –
or dodge the churning reef
where clings
to sands immortal –
our fainting disbelief

were souls
to find redemption –
a path
already known
life (beyond the one we live)
shall bear us
(one day) home

. . .

somewhere long ago ~

keepmyheart

found before
some other rhyme –
words I knew by heart
tho years have passed
to somewhere
long ago –
held to you my heaven
another line to pen
stars would watch
and wonder –
what we know

save for me
I worry still
of paths you must have taken
drove into a night
beyond my grasp –
never once the taking back
how were you
to find me –
held apart by pieces
some old map –

a promise
to remember
when everything went bad
you’d know my name
a season unrehearsed
papers scattered everywhere
reminders once we were
found a place
within the lines –
a verse

whisper now
so none can hear –
let me feel your stutter
a longing let to loose
upon the wind
dry your tears
and I’ll dry mine –
with faith to cry another
worlds beyond
this falling –
somewhere we
begin

. . .

never set to flight ~

hereandstill

silence wears a locket
of sterling
carved by light –
kept inside – a weave
of seventeen
when passed as life
to colors – raven on the night
clutched against the breast
where wishing held

patience keeps a window
open to the dark –
six long years of waiting
lest he come
as suffering – the nightingale
allegiance to her love
spread against
the fated firmament

memory of waking –
the other side of sleep
has left us not a road
for turning on
clouds of blue azalea
paths where there were none
– a step or more
from where the truth
was found

letting go
at last to wings –
never set to flight
cast against a vision
of the sun
lighter now
as breathing takes
a toll of consequence
shadows lean to grace
was sure to come

. . .

beyond the need ~

stillandnot

rebel wind
of beauty bursting
dusty scars
defy the day
slipped beyond
the need for wisdom
quiet took not time
to pray

for better harvests
soaking rains
nights to faith we laid
naked as the ring
beneath the bark

celebrate
the empty fields
disgruntled grace of thunder
of briar
sans the memory of bite
of teardrops tapped
along the roof
rusted tin and rainbow –
visions saved
for grieving
another morning
storm

. . .

past the point ~

nightflight

of memory
forgotten me –
my touch is nearly gone
and voices
once were mine –
are softer still
than given to remember
a whisper no one heard
was gifted wing
one night
when in your arms

a name
I almost waited –
a lifetime more for this
past the point
where leaves were turning brown
salvation fears
a fleeting kiss
the taste of mountain streams –
held beneath the waters
of the night

forgiven now
of words unleashed –
hurt beyond the heal –
locks were changed
and poems
burned away
making room for wanting
flickers rush
the smoke –
verses cling and I have none
to keep

mystery defined
as luck –
nightbirds swim the deep
reliving every story
of desire –
swept as clouds
into the dark –
windows of the dawn
names are given
– one more chance
to leave

comfort

did we know
of ways uncertain –
as paths we cleared
between
of rivers wide
and trees against the sky
dew had fallen
somewhere –
into the baby grass
promise made of whispers
morning lies

. . .

unpracticed ~

blues

sometimes
and then you notice
the first of april stir –
reminders of another
once we were
as close this one
as far
too wide –
the ways between
unpracticed
as another petal drifted
another seed
to sow

when whispers fell
(I love you)
I wondered
did you hear –
above the silent roar
of cricket’s cry
were needles busy stitching
pieces never left
– made for us
a blanket
of the snow

questions spin
the early night –
where reason
falls apart
memories are faded
into light
lilacs brush the shutters
breezes blow us back
love remains
within the sounds –
carried by the soul
