signs

where
and now
the page is turning
hands are moving back in time –
stories of afar remembered
last we were
the first to find

hand in hand
afraid for nothing –
gentle rains to hide our tears
fragile breath
to winds returning
– signs of life
surrendered here

essence come
and whispers parted
questioned why for this
we knew
something more than
stories telling –
answers lost
in passing through

verses bound
to one another –
secrets to each holy place –
sacred blossoms
fall together –
as seasons intervened
by grace

silent words
are want for hearing
longing begs one last release –
ribbons loosed by everafter –
float the dark
beyond the trees

heaven nowhere ~

mistook

rock me the cradle
was broken before
and warm not these lips
with regret
childless to walk
eternity’s night –
awaiting my sins to forget

wrapped in the darkness
survived by the womb
heaven nowhere
but my sleep
voices inside me
arguing so
and I without reason
or promise
to keep

loneliness dreams
in colors of grace
an almost forgotten shade
forever stood long
by the side of the bed
remembering life
unafraid

where will I go
when all I have left
are questions of
anger and shame
of sacred forgiveness
reserved not for me
demons shall carry
the weight
of my name

take of my slumber
grieving not once –
for a life
filled with reasons to die
curs’ed the ground
where peace finds no rest
as pain reconciled
to goodbye

rock me the cradle
was broken before
and warm not these lips
with regret
childless to walk
eternity’s night –
awaiting these sins to forget

trust

dare the night
betray the shadows –
needles passing time away
spun of wishes
silken sliver
as moondust
on my pillow lay

urged to sleep
by stark confession
of seasons passed
the way we came
broken dawn
against the dresser
leaks to blue
the windowpane

hours nest
beside the worries –
moments bound
by fate somehow
spoke the moon
beneath the shiver
who shall come
to save us now

starlight streams
on sheets of emerald
stretched beyond
the reach of night
wishes fade as one
to stillness –
weaving shadows
into light

. . .

faces to the sun ~

graced

within the silence
of the heart –
echoes of another
and lives so barely lived
were filled with light

trembled now
the tired soul –
spilled as prayer with sorrow
asking for but one
a truth revealed

wash upon these places
ease beyond the night –
but rob us not
the memory
of their love

guard the sleep
of dreamers –
wake them slow to peace
fearless to embrace
another morn

sweeter now
the whispered hope
revived from long ago –
promising a life
beyond this life

smiles remembered
everywhere –
where healing is begun
angels wait familiar now –
as faces to the sun

. . .

not the same ~

of tears

show to the fallen
the strength into flying –
the broken
of bliss to reclaim
the place we were going
was yesterday here
we walked through a world
not the same

assurance
the word we dare
not remember –
take not of these for thy own
blind me believing
another hereafter
is written to pages
unknown

of all
and of none –
of every we are
together no different
the way
warned of the flame
held without love –
and left unprepared
for the pulling away

bless us
forgive us
grant us compassion
for more than the grieving
connecting us all
help us in holding –
the world for our reaching
for the one who sits broken
tomorrow shall fall

. . .

as one ~

sometimesIfly

fall
as the warmth
to my shoulders
rest as a balm to my pain
breathe as I breathe
go as I go
and wrap me to love
in your rain

rise as I rise
in the sweet morning glow
fill me to flush –
with your rhyme
leave me to want
some tenderness here
of all that I am –
a sinner divine

sing as I sing
in places of sorrow
calm every storm of dismay
dance as I dance
move as I move
and strain not my heart
by the giving away

still
as the dew
clings to the petals
fearless embrace by the sun
breathless as starlings
burst from the trees
fly as I fly
remembered as one

feathers ~

proof

teach us well
of moments spent –
of legions marched
as sometimes do –
spirits danced
within a memory –
names forgot
this passing through

silver blue
as ancient feathers
remnants of some faraway
worn the path
of least resistance –
goddess of the light
at play

glitter pools
in crystal wonder –
all that wakes
was once a dream
through the forest
lest we enter –
worlds beyond the keep
of green

diamond ~

resurrected

in the silent stir
of breathing –
a universe is born
baby blue and wrapped
in melodies
of lullabys and lovers
long ago we knew
the coming back
would lead us to the throne

to pages unintended
by the passing of an age
letters folded
sweetly out of sight
names and dates
across and through
division of our sorrows
scribbled to the margins
by regret

daughters
sons and keepers
waiting long the night
rivers play the songs
of welcome home
polished by direction
turning still the flow
where east meets west
evermore is gone

tales of almost tempted
and where they curse us still
visions of tomorrow
fall away –
becoming now the future
of some distant yesterday –
we willed ourselves
into the love we leave

pages turning over
leaves of crimson browned
twilight sits a diamond
on the grey –
messages delivered
of somewhere else we go –
moments stretched beyond
the reach of time

whispers ~

leaves

I’ve been around
a time or two
and thought sometimes to leave
wrapped up in a blanket on the bed
desperate dispatch
of passions to survive –
to hold my hand
against a flaming torch

for consequence
is not my sort –
and right most never wrong
places still remember me this way
suffering a moment more
than ever should have been
let me go
before I beg to stay

once before
o no not then –
my soul to sacrifice
the truth was there
but hiding all the while
flush against the mantle
golden cross the grain
circling a moment –
a memory of your smile

shush the bitter
aftermath
of all you couldn’t say
dance me now
across a midnight floor
whisper to the curve
that is my longing come alive –
kiss the dying echo
of your name

. . .

of faraways ~

familiar

of skies
beyond your flicker
I can’t say that I’ve seen –
or whether there is life
beyond my dreams

of faraways
I can’t recall
the ways to here I came –
or where was left the signs
along the night

promises forgotten
to the roads I walk alone –
tho taken of my will
to turn around

echoes force
their way inside
lately now I shudder
against the verse
forgotten not
to rhyme

of all I know
another time –
familiar
unremembered –
paths across my skin
have disappeared
