in a moment come
such singular respect
to endless possible
promise
and quietly
swelled up hope
suffice to stretch
the ring and still
the questions asked

bitter as the poison tongue
tired (again) of tasting
anoint me with something new
as rare as I
in anticipation
of one more forever
a sun almost risen

leaning beyond
this chasm
of familiar unfamiliar
and thought not far to leaving
for the air hangs still
with hello
and supper not yet cold

in the space
beyond my vision –
where the edge of night is pried
from places just beneath
the wet down world
as quiet weaves
I sit as one –
an almost ended light
close my eyes
and hear their tender
prayers –

embarassment of beetles
for the cricket
knew their shame
tho sworn to keep a secret
of the dark –
needles working endless
to make for us a shawl
would hide the night
and shade the face
of day

flickers of surrender
wings were beating blind –
denied the fault of others
fell before
as embers to the smoke
reflections of the lake
spinning top
is burdened now
with lace

while just beyond
my breathing
green her blue goodbye
as moonlight gives
my hiding place away
love remembers where I stood
beneath a winter veil –
smelled of pine
and spoke to me
by name

Stay as I’ve wanted
to folded remembrance –
as an essence of perfume
I no longer wear.
Of far away places
I can’t seem to loosen –
their hold on my being
was written
somewhere.

As the day I was born –
the night of conception
when someone spoke softly
my name to the trees.
Flowers were open
as evermore waited –
the echoes of loving
my own to release.

As ripples of forest –
bursting with cedar
boxes lined up to the right
of the door.
Memories passed by the way
of the garden –
where golden white shutes
are planted once more.

Whispers of promise
and who I’d be someday
when all the rest failed –
I’d come round to home.
As wings breach the distance
e’en now in the darkness –
someone waits easy
the long night
alone.

were ever I returning
for something more than bliss
my passing through
made sweeter
by the sunrise of a kiss
were milky ways
a place to stay
unnoticed by the night
awash in dreams just waiting
another wish to write

were ever I
awaited you –
with starlight in my hair
and quiet where your memory
touched my skin –
was more than words
you heard between
each whispered come to me
a beating so familiar
as secrets known again

were ever this
the taking back –
of thought once put away
as mysteries
resolving us somewhere
I have no use
for lame excuse –
would love be my disgrace
the same as then
remembered when –
another fond embrace

were ever cold
I can’t recall –
the time for nights gone by
of melted dreams
unconscious streams –
alight with wonders why
a living word
so sweetly heard –
shall ring the years between
forever stills
in moments dear –
as dreams wherein we dream

tis not for warmth
these hands are folded –
or curved to catch
the morning light
moved as silent birds to daybreak –
across and with
each sweet delight

was not for grace
or prayers unspoken –
steeple pointed toward the sky
felt the sound
of angels gathered –
just beyond the reach
of I

beyond the pool
of secrets spilling –
kisses rise from words the same
breath was given rhyme
for telling –
loving wings these hands
became

the dreamer’s map
of north star guiding –
someone asks (as someone knows)
what of hands
were made for speaking –
what of words
we meant to hold

so still ~

I am still –
were a dream
and I made real
come this moment
start me clean
take of naught
the hurts unseen

of forgiveness –
right from wrong
psalms unread
redemptions song

fold such tenderness
around –
breath to breath
as loving bound
of yes and then
another will
this truth become
as love revealed

of this no more
than love I give
as I was once –
so still
I live

for every time
a time so true –
as moments without measure
to be again
remembered then –
our presence now
our treasure

a softer sigh
was never heard –
though times before
I waited
as one within a passing sure –
would lifetimes still
be traded

by rushes
to the yellow morn
silver to the hay
as glories gathered by the vine
to steal my heart away

of twilight swoons
where nightbuds bloom
petals tender fall –
as anxious for the memory
of dreams
to hold us all

by stillness wrapped
this thought so sweet –
as I – with grace divine
was bliss to me

softest auburn flame
burns hotest mid-july
and fans an ember still
from days of yore
when fiddle met
with banjo
banged a basement floor
as two by two
their feeble hearts
were worn

beneath a shaft
of fading light
vanilla burnt to butter
said I love you more
than once a night
lips to hover just above
the meet of wing to wonder
arms to reach
as buttons came
undone

eyes lit up
with wondering
where the dance might take
and would the lantern last
the coming dawn
pardon me the moving in
dirty floors forgiven
a bell hangs silver leaf
above the frame

tempted claim
of candlelight
violin and whispers
memories of turning round –
two by two
by one

who hears the echo
of once fallen fathers
knows every name
and loves them no less
silver white dots
connect each horizon
sister and brother
the weary heart rests

crosses stand down
by the edge of the highway
somebody’s gone
where grief couldn’t go
who shall remember
was everyone’s baby
kept now in daisies
the color of snow

eyes search the distance
and curse
at the weather
who’s left to see
when the light falls away
hands reaching over
the breadth of one sorrow
take me
forsake me
but lean to my pain

wrapped in the colors
of rainbows and raining
fixed by the fathers –
as stars
on the day

were the banks
overflowing
with green velvet lace –
and stones
whiter polished
by the river’s erase
in the rushing of thunder
as songs to the trees
were blossoms
just starting
their love to release

never more
to be noticed
let the waters yet rise
and ashes be scattered
beyond winter skies
lest this name
be forgotten
as a bittersweet time
when I left to the rapids
my fate to refine

from cool
crystal glaciers
my yesterday flowed
through the valley
of mountains
my ankles – my toes
til the blue
almost broke me
with icey remorse
when a drop of forever
took this spirit
off course

rushing long
into something
more than will to pretend
was the sea
I was waiting –
my life to begin
as ways without reason
passion churns with the tide
lest I drift thru
december –
this chill to abide
