When words can’t possibly say enough, they somehow do…….. Beautiful work by an extremely talented poet.

Evening creeps upon me now
sun sinks lower in the sky
floating in the dreams now faded
where dawn came up to greet
the sleepy stillness in my eyes

Shadows of the day are longing
far beneath my thought of how
youthful rain was warm with life
and laughing people hurried past
to find a dizzy dreamy now

Tonight I’m falling into them
what cost considered for this ride
and all my days begin to blur
in circles rolling round about
the music solace won’t confide

I realize moments in my day
river’s flowing speaks my name
or lost in some embarrassment
not feeling any touch at all
when I’ve forgotten you again

A mem’ry of your smile becomes
the way to wander to the past
the best of all life gave to us
and love our only reason was
a day’s unending circle blessed

When land is frozen in…

before my lazy stirring
to the day that lay in wait
when dreams were tugging gently
come away
somewhere near
a nightbird flew
with wings to graze my sleeping
awaken dear
I’ve made a sky for you
back and forth
as to and fro –
a glance across the shadows
what time has got away
and still to spare
wonder weaves in prisms
across these counted covers
dare I see at all
what’s waiting there
remembered now admonishment
you’ll sleep your life away
thirty years
have come and gone again –
pastel paper lines the walls
glories guard the gate
steps to mark the wonder fell between
and where I’ll go
as daylight climbs to reach
my everafter –
a leaning porch (I don’t have time to mend)
sleepy arms
and hungry hands
stretch to touch the branches –
wings to graze as smiling
I begin

day before the daylight ~

when passed the hour
a light to shine
with memories of home –
as breath
the first returned
into the fold

a cry of sweet surrender
an amen barely heard
reunion of the sinner
to the saint –
the baby to the cradle
arms forever wait
with words to taste the same
as once were said

wandering again to this
another way became
unknowing of the seasons
passed before –
of day before the daylight
a garden unadorned
wanting but for love
to come again

and worry not the thief
of time –
might steal our lowly plans
light to claim the dark –
another day

with nothing but the notion
of passing here before –
filled as then
with lifetimes
in our soul

distraction ~

how thick this mortal
silence grows
as ignorance defends
the way of fear,
and who’s to blame
for dying

confession dons
a wedding dress –
and waits the night
to find her
some hope to buy
when faith has failed again

surrender to the fairest
and none for less
will come
when counseled by their fate –
uncertain signs

distracted by the shining
thought it was their sin –
slept beyond the time
to understand

of resolutions
only one
pretends to seek the answers
stirred but for a moment
to the past

awaits the veil of innocence
a crown
to surely come
as light between the limbs
of majesty

would stow the sword
and bend the plow
raise as truth – the dying
revealed to us –
the worthiness of tears

a breath denied
to loving hearts –
blows freely to the plain
reminders of the path
so few have known

the way of life
spreads light into the dark
as wisdom waits
the longest night –
a wedding to attend

of who I am
I’ve been told –
there’s resemblance to the rest
but something none can name
that is my own – my wilderness

a mystery of purpose
each subtle stroke of light
wrong made sense in waiting
for the promises
of sight

hands to work
and heart to seek
the ways we came and why
I’d choose again (this choosing)
would live again to die

to find renewed
the places kept –
though mortal essence fades
within my soul (eternal)
are seeds of love we made

no less than now –
and dearer still
as each new day begins
love becomes a tapestry –
of stories told again

watch for me
(familiar) as another sun draws nigh ~
listen for my spirit
in the memory of a sigh

returned again
as times before to find
forever come –
another strand of love to weave
in destinies of one

talk with bears ~

how might the night
be slept away
and yearned but for another
heaven here on earth
as whiter
snowflakes swirled

from somewhere else
much colder now
than ash by fate decided
were stones beneath the rapids
polished cedar bark

where all was still
but for the bears
without the words to warn us
spoke only to each other
of spring
their next goodbye

lanterns lit
and lightning bugs
were settled down in secret
brushed into illusion
as skies of indigo

so slow the dawn
returning
to breathless apprehension
six months denied
the glow of sacred sun

whispers I remember
as planets moved together
bears to talk with bears
the night shall talk
to none

caught inside a wish ~

where –
and I am there again
fell between the story
and the pen –
caught inside a wish you let to go
higher than an angry moon
remembered me (somehow)
a fog – a shade of grey
that was your eyes

they say it’s gone – it can’t be done
but here you are
and there I am within –

hopeless every time I’ve tried –
to live outside my longing
but I wonder even now
why I would want to say goodbye –
to feel you gone away
when there’s a place you are
a warmth (I beg you stay) –
for all that was
will bring me back (again)

when the rain is come
I’ll remember once (a sunny day)
when you kissed this mouth
and the taste of secrets shared
(they are the same)

there’s a song and there are moments –
a silence I love best
for it’s there between the twilight
and the fiddle –
that I hear your sigh –
the cool that is your breath

where –
and I am there again
fell between the story
and the pen –
caught inside a wish
you let to go

angels remaining ~

living run over with angels
and pictures –
lacey white lace all around
souvenirs tumble from half hidden drawers
and shelves are bowed low
with the weight of my life

places and people –
(though some are gone missing)
last night I waited
their souls by the door

lights burn beyond me
above this sweet presence
and all that is left
my treasures to hold
some say forever
are lost their reminders
but I carry them with me
wherever I go –

a tattoo of love
makes no room for sorrow
and sometimes in mirrors I see
her eyes in reflections
of grandaddy’s creases –
his hands when I reach
now to touch

my laughter an echo
inheritance dances –
and I sleep just the same
as she does
of the best (every one)
the worst but a shadow –
and I pay no rent to that place

might lifetimes become
in the blink of existing –
and all that is left
forgotten my name –
but for traces of something
they can’t quite imagine

and a picture still standing
with angels in lace

unafraid ~

waiting
and unafraid
unafraid to be seen (to see)
trusting of love
(the truest) to go
wherever I would go
(even as I must dream)

away the dark
restored the light
as love (might I declare)
my only proof
when pieces fell
(and fit) together there

destinies are now
(beginning)
and where I am
no trace of me
exists remembered
but what was left
of lessons
(come to be)

when given light
(circles into circles)
balance for the fear(ed)
was not for me
important as the dance
(of unafraid)
sparrows breech the clouds
as angels flock
(beneath)

for moments
gladly waiting
and years rolled into years
would sorrow sit –
I begged him please
to go –
I hold myself
and wrap my arms
around this sweet becoming
salvation
feels the same
when winter slows

softer now the leaves
beneath my
naked feet –
chestnuts roll
the banks (and wash away)
criers cry
as morning doves
wait in loving echoes
earnest comes the sun
into the day
