sweeterstill

were destiny
a way become
of roads we knew before
of souls remembered
just the same –
a stranger
at the door

recalled how warm
 our midday sun
burned above the plain
sworn unto another time
 some comfort
to remain

the same as then
how sweet returned
the captive
from the dream
as words to spread
 a starlit night
unseen

babies
left their crying
another faith to press
backward
to the lover

unconfessed

the need for more
as ache deserved
shall one day reach an end
as sun beyond the setting
we begin

gracesundeserved

how much
our forgiving
for words yet unsaid
and a place we remember
come round
as a sweet recollection
of familiar returned
– a house on a hill
falling down

a buzz on the fields
a way through the weeds
and somewhere
– they miss us
the same
pieces are kept
of the leaving we took
 places and graces
and names

tho deeper the will
to discover the path
was ours
from beginning to end
love shall return us
the ways
were come –
to remember
this moment again

willfulme

silhouettes pry
the secrets untold
from the heart of the storybook
teller I’m told

there are places
forgotten
sometimes it is said
when the words
are come easy
to press round my bed

and rain pours her tears
to my pillow (my soul)

who will remember
I wonder sometimes
what is lost
in the leaving –
the growing to old

as rings on the willow
a promise was made
and nursed by the darkness
returning our light
silver blue shadows
flash to and fro –
as a sign of our saving
wings touch the night

as a dream just beginning
a story so sweet
is gone with the dawning
a silent retreat

from the trust in another
was wonder to know
when leaned into love –
paper wings
letting go

. . .

did you know ~

Iamherewere this
our reminder
to remember somehow
a time I was yours
(did you know)
of long nights I spread
to worlds
stretched between
and listened
with longing –
your whisper to go

with nothing but wishes
as welcome to hold
time slipped
apart where I stayed
moored to the place
we started
before
– to watch
as your ship sailed
away

forever
is balanced by light
from the moon –
and days when the sun
strains to be
beyond this permission
of loving to love –
e’en now
my light wanders
your seas

moments

it seems
I’ve forgotten
the reasons for us
and where you were going
before I came down
– a breeze
from the mountains
as light from the east
– a some kind of angel
in white cotton gown

at the mention of always –
sometimes I loose sight
of the way
that the world takes her time
as balanced perfection –
wherein I forget
the beauty of presence
divine

a scatter of ashes
in clusters of blue –
a sign by the side
of a once traveled road
remembers our passing
as time
on the map –
a place come of knowing
– of dreams
taking hold

home

garner these truths
these fragile provisions
of where
(and I was)
but a sail on the sky
tethered by something
much older
than reason
waters set free
are pulling me nigh

across
to remember
another time (passing)
fitted my breast
the darkest of quills
thicker than moss
these graces of sorrow
soars as I know
I have
(and I will)

store to my being
one more returning –
as flashes
where scars used to be
bury my home
deep (for my finding)
skies once I wandered
my way
back to thee

backagain

what memory
have you of this
of ways before the start
we dreamed a world
beyond our pulled apart
beyond this night
forgotten –
another willed to be
echoes down the meadow
from the sea

floated past the window
inches from the grey
ashes fell
reminding me to pray
for someone
without name I knew
someone still to mourn
let me find
remembrance here
an essence
without form

what truth
denies the bending
of sacrifice to sight
leaves the gate wide open
every night
hastens now the winter
to rush the fragile spring
hears the song
made sweeter
by the wing

. . .

ways we were come to begin ~

stilltheyknow

scatter to west
the weight of my winds
as proof of my lowly
remembrance
so dear was the tracing
of ways we were come
to begin
where we ended
before

from the road
even now
forgotten lays best
weeds spent with briar
and thorn
recalled to our worth
existence somehow
shall hold not my heart
for one moment
more

how fitful
this dreaming
this almost becomes –
as you martyr yourself
while I wait
skilled at forgiveness
tho never once asked
the nails almost bent
in surrender
of late

darling
the well
needs repair in the autumn
let not the leaves
have their way
to find what was needed
are souvenirs still
carved into places
time can’t betray

for another
once offered –
begged without word
the meaning of life
from a star
shifted the covers
while silence snuck in
left me a note
of your going
afar

the hinges
have rusted –
and there go the rhymes
tho echoed
by living –
the sharing divine
of a path
not so separate
as the ways you have been
a kiss waiting tender
your coming
again

. . .

an almost thing ~

heavenhere

worry not
the breath of me
soothe to fill my ache
or sleep to dim
where longing left a mark
but spare me not
the sweeter bliss
of berry blue horizons
roman candle firs
against the dark

were majesty
an almost thing
royal gowns for taking
let me lie in rags
beneath the throne
silenced by the wonder
of dandelion wish
of moments without word
or breath –
meant to rob
my own
