when first you were
as come to me –
a letter someone mailed
and put my name to scarlet
neath the picture of a sail
a stamp of once forgotten
to the refuge of the waves
and ‘cross the tides
delivered me your soul
as ever we were parted
and swore to meet again
to other shores
remembered why we left
with not a thought
to what was passed –
memories no longer
just the gentle shift of time
beneath our wake
hands to reach
across this great divide
of crystal waters –
as sands to form
beneath a quarter moon
silver pails of longing
kept too long
the wait for home
would dreams return us dancing
as sunlight on the foam
This aches to be read out aloud!
Oh, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you thought so. As soon as I can upgrade my microphone, I’m thinking to post some readings here. Then you’ll really miss the south! Thank you, Seb. ~ Much love, Bobbie
What I liked about this were the feelings beneath the words.
….always,
xo & good night, Bobbie
Paul
….that’s what I liked as well. Thank you, Paul. Goodnight dear one. ~ Love, Bobbie
reading this takes me away to such a beautiful, unique space. thanks for sharing this!
Thank you. You touch my heart with your praise. Truly, thank you. ~ Much love, Bobbie
Sometimes I am also compelled to read your poems aloud, this one too. I really think that all the readings would be better that way and was thinking along the same line for quite some time, but checking for quality of sound. The poem is very melodic and lovely to read as well as speak. Really loved it, Bobbie! Linda…I’m sure that you would be wonderful reading your own work….Did you know about the telephone recordings that can be done? I would want to know how Cat does it!
Oh, I have the ability to do a phone recording, but the sound isn’t as good as with a microphone (mono versus stereo). But I should check with Cat because maybe she knows something we don’t. 😉 Probably much more, but I think it’s a wonderful idea. I did it on my writing site, but then stopped because it was an added feature that you had to pay for (and it seemed low on my list of universal priorities). Thank you, Linda. You’re a dear. Love you, Bobbie
