he said, home, life, love, poet, real, truth

he said
the wait is over
not quite
tho still the same
as once you loved
i held you
the memory of flame
before there was
this wonder
this moment to discern
miles between
the getting back –
a destiny
returned

she said
i’ll leave the candle
regardless of the time
nights
where fell a star
we wished upon
i’ll keep the coffee
warmer
for the time it takes
to dream
i’ll wait
whatever fate
is come
for me

he said
i’ll be the river
and you
my favored stones
let me roll
beneath the heavens
to sleep
beside your soul

she said
i’ll be the sunrise
if you hold up the night
when breakfast comes
i reach
for you to find –
the way
that was beginning
years
before i knew

he said
i’ll wait all morning –
to wait the night
for you

here
is the place
saved
for your hands
another
saved for your heart
here are the lands
held for you
mine
a house
come together
of wishes
of stone
here are the moments
awaited our will –
worried as time
fell away
a real
everafter
even now i believe
sits with the shadows
i prayed

. . .

while the stars are still new ~

days, eternity, life, love, real, soul, time, truth

i shall wait
wherever heavens
are traded
another good morning
a sweeter sunrise
i shall gather
whatever days i have left
and steal
to shadows
let loose
by the night
i shall sit in the quiet
of every
forever
wake while
the stars are still new
i shall swear
my allegiance
to places we loved
ten million canyons
devoted
to you
i shall make
of this prayer
some other remains
recalled to wherever
heaven
exists
silence made heavy
by words
i recall
as the breath
of my name
given back
by your kiss

. .

stirring ~

essence, home, life, love, real, self, time, truth

uncertain years
forgotten dreams –
who i am
i wonder
sometimes
i feel the stirring
of a heart to less denied
what truth i bear
to all i might have been
fondest of
leaves are falling
somewhere yet
i love

. . .

from none to forever ~

home, live, love, real, remember me, sometimes still, time, truth

come
let us find
graces remembered
a dark stretch of grass
old souvenirs
we made of believing
sat me down this
by your side
in the shade
to wonder
as i
how you love
when all i hold
is your hand
your heart
counted me back
from none to
forever
come
let us find
rivers where stones
used to be

. . .

disregarded ~

home, knowing, life, love, presence, real, sometimes, still, waiting

wherever love
has memorized
the color of my eyes
the way my hair gets tangled
with the sheets
was only this
i waited
lives to disregard
the winter ache
of rainbows
melted into flame
whatever once i noticed
convincing it might seem
how the stars aligned
within my dreams
how the morning
pressed against the shadow
of my need
remining me of
all the things
i never knew
to know

. . .

story denied ~

home, life, love, real, river, save me, sometimes, truth

ferry me back
before the storm curses
swim me across
where the river goes wide
when almost
seems no chance worth taking
save me another –
for every story
denied
ferry me back
lest heaven come easy –
as someone to leave us
alone
take me wherever
your love waits familiar
ferry me over –
won’t you carry me
home

. . .

again ~

save for this
a place i thought
grace could never reach
when closed my eyes
destiny remains
of seventeen
and for a moment
there we are again
revealed to life negated
by our rush to get away
to a dream
where someone waited
knew the way
we would be loved
how easy tenderness
became a touch
save for this
my everything –
how could i have known
the ways to you
would carry me
to home

. . .

out past the light ~

take me back easy
take me back
remember –
pull as my locks
tear away
memorize everything
every one time
we lay in the rocks
and made love
of the day
cursing the sailors
praising the stars
let us go
from a memory
out past the light
a bend in the ocean –
where the moon
goes to play
