for all I am
the more I will
of places yet I’ve never seen
held within this fragile beating
lives beyond
the reach of dream

for more than time
as thrice discovered
there I’ll find you
waiting still
held with promise I remember
every mystery
revealed

of moments held
so few for keeping
more than nights
for slumber come –
wishes spent on falling embers
stir the starlight
into dawn

for every now
my past was fated
as memories survived the fall
whispers of another sleeping
lifetimes since
I scarce recall

of choices made
some other choosing
morning falls against my place
names rewritten
someone misses
where I loved – I live
always

forgive me now
this coming back
to find an understanding
of where I stood
e’en now the ground is warm
the barn is leaning further
than I thought it would in May
but now ~ so clearly now
I see the moon

forgotten yet
the pain to leave
a tear-stained sunday morning
roads to walk
alone and back again
just beyond the church bells
ring ~
vows not worth the sermon
echoing of words
were tasted new

take me now
before the first of
winter’s velvet stillness
and nights
when still I burn
with thoughts of you
cellar doors
and broken steps ~
thirteen miles to nowhere
lines to run both ways
are never true

say it ~
say it softly
speak my name
aloud
murmur in the dark
so I might hear
and know of times uncertain
as rain between the stars ~
aware of other times
you held me near

whisper as another
time has passed into
everafter promised me a place
I always knew
would come again
a house without a door ~
windows facing south
to hide the barn

one ~

how deeply were roots
weaved into granite ~
briar or bruise
(beyond them to care)
cleaved to their kin
as lovers ill-fated ~
unintended this soil to share

slept through the night
dreaming of water ~
as visions of truth brought the thirsty awake
cruel and cramped (extinctive survival)
sworn to each other ~
a living to make

but fell to the midst
a lovely companion
burst from a seed (unassumed)
gentle retort of rocky intention
when met with the blade ~
of destiny’s bloom

how proudly she sways
the daylight to beckon
a moment to shine on her face
blushing umbrella of infamous fare ~
is held ever sure
in the briar’s embrace

fearless their push
to the edge of forsaken
moved as the night to alter their view ~
of all that she is
would lose in becoming
companion to these
unfortunate few

see how she smiles
for those without blossom
drawn to their beauty
(as only she knows)
sharing the light
as one with the meadow ~
tho miles from its bosom
she grows

there are things I can’t say
to anyone yet
some admission of dying
one piece at a time ~
one crush of a breath
one season of death
and I can’t seem to call it
by name

the thief
and the bride
the willing young man
who stood in the drive
with arms open wide ~
reminders of daisies
white velvet sprays
and a spark to the eyes
said I’m doing okay

but I can’t seem to think
what I don’t want
to say ~
and there can’t be a place
for goodbyes here today

they’ll drive me to drink
and the river will flow
out beyond where I’m bound
to be going ~
I go

I have not breath
to give you –
no tears beyond these few
I have no words
to will you understood

of ways I was
when none would know
to see in you
my morning –
rolled against the sunlight
of my dew

without the say
to know you now
or where tomorrow
glistens –
her skirts of almost life
above the rain

of beauty
I am nothing more
than ashes blown to autumn –
a song no longer sung
forgotten tune

of melodies
you gave to me –
when thought no one
would notice –
when wandered back
my wilderness to know

chance the morn
to find me here –
and you my one for keeping
photographs
remembered as
we were

still the light
of dawning blessed
sighs of everafter –
when called by name
each star along my brow

fill this page
with lonely lines –
write again tomorrow
tell me
when again –
and I shall wait

…

thought I knew
of distance ~
thought I knew of destinies
words I might not
ever hear were tangled
in the trees

forgotten
what I meant to say
remembered where we were
when for a time
forever left a stain
upon my heart

thought I was
as none could be ~
grace much more than this
whenever touch
my own was come ~
was proof of more
than bliss

of lifetimes passed
as whispers
of the future to unfold
was meant for love ~
and came to be
the only thing I know

of hurricanes
and dragonflies
into a northern flame
thought I heard you coming back
thought you spoke
my name

…

there to hold ~

as one
a wave of ribbons
spooled cross
and down the valley ~
where there with open arms
my spirit danced

as quietly
where none could see ~
held with one to wonder
and swayed beneath
a canopy
of lace

knitted cap
of wren and wasp
layers thick with mayfly
crisp the folding up
to fall in prayer

as soon
by daylight entered
to nurse beneath the rafters
for one more dream
another time to love

fancy this
the reasons come ~
in silence of remembrance
of who I was ~
and what was meant to be

amazed for roads
these hands to carve ~
as poems never written
were stitched into
the highest bough ~
were heaven there to hold

still
within this moment
light surrenders living ~
and breath is broken
somewhere
out beyond ~

the lean into
uncertainty ~
as loosed these fragile fallings
leaves are counting
yesterdays
again

…

suspended breathing ~

I thought much about this before deciding to post. Ultimately, if I am faithful to my own truth, I must to be willing to speak that truth.

As of late, I have hurt others with the mere act of being myself (which I know can be a bit overwhelming at times). If you are among those, then I am truly sorry.  Please know that I would never intentionally hurt anyone.

I realize I am at times too open, and too free and too (too)…. I am quick to disregard love with ten thousand rules as being love at all. I love too much and too deeply and, yes, that means that there are times when I step on toes without meaning to. I sometimes forget that not everyone is the same ~ and certainly most do not see things (especially love) as I do.

I didn’t come to this site to be a part of a political movement or to feed my own ego.  If you don’t like what I write, then tell me or don’t say anything, but please don’t spend your time on words that have no truth. I am not here for praise (not even close).   I’ll only be offended if you go out of your way to be something because you think it’s what I need. If that is what you need, it is here, but I am not that……

I came here to share my words (my ways), and to know others, but if knowing means that either of us cannot speak freely, then what we have earned? What have we gained in the act of trying so hard not offend ~ so hard that, in fact, we never know each other at all?

Whatever you seek, you will find.  If I offended, please forgive.

Take me down
the muddy river ~
wash my sorrows out to sea.
Gather now my words
unsettled ~
for where they live ~
another me.

I will love until they cover
every patch of mortal skin ~
til I’m bound by mossy pages
o’er my verses ~
o’er my sin.

Have I none but this
to offer ~
let me love as unafraid.
What will come of love we garnered
~ what shall be our crown
this day?

as the morning
of vespers ~
a walk toward the lake
as a route neath the bridge
on your way

do you think of me
then ~
as your soul comes awake
and light spills
from heaven again

in the solace
of silence
the viligent verse ~
weaves into words
a reason to slow

misty blue skies
and I wandered this way
as near as the sunlight
to love

remembered of time
a dream such as this
of nights cursed by coffee
and miles

moved to a moment
of one standing still
do you hear ~
can you know
how I feel

for every road
was laid between
and circles round me flowing ~
til up came down
and which way home ~
the sea

a rush of dreams
when put to bed ~
grieves us on the morning
forgotten by the places
we were loved

how can the ways
be new to me ~
familiar in their telling
of constellations traced
when I was young

was there beneath
the oldest
oak ~
hiding from the heavens
I dreamed of moss
and woke before the sun

the path to us
along the rise ~
is lined with silver iris
and keeps my place
as nothing else will do

ashes rain confusion
on the map that knew
our fate ~
fortune lies
beyond the light
we know
