missing
seems the only word
to show for ache
and sorrow
places deeper still
the passing wears
canyons into echoes
speak of love
as one –
oceans swear allegiance
to the rain
lonely
wears a fancy name
as souls in love
with leaving
held the bar much higher
than the heart
captivated
someone else
I thought of once
in parting –
know me now
but never all the way
. . .

“missing” is an appropriate word to describe the ache or sorrow of a loved one’s absence from your life, Bobbie. As I read this, I felt that emptiness of “missing”.

I know you know, my dear Paul. Whether I am recounting stories of my grandparents from my childhood (to those who will never know) or merely remembering another (sweeter) time, always my eyes fill and my heart hurts…….. But beyond that, I know (as you do) that we don’t miss what we don’t love….and love is ALWAYS worth the ache. May your day be filled with sweet sweet memories. ~ Love, Bobbie
I agree with Paul…
I have tried to fit others…but they are always…simple “missing” ache
Beautiful with sadness running through the veins and in between the lines
Take Care…

People are unique as are aches….. We can miss hundreds of people, and yet we miss none of them the same. It makes absolute sense that one could not replace another (nor should they)……. I love this and I think you’ve inspired another ‘soon to write’…… Thank you, Maryrose. ~ Forever, Me
Such is a true love, it provides aches and pains, but also rich enduring soothing moments, and the blend of it all together reminds me, it is better to love than not. For its memories whether good or bad will always be something worthwhile, always a treasure worth having within! Blessings!
O, Wendell……..you said it all. “It’s better to love than not.” I was talking to an old dear friend today and at some point in the conversation, he said, ‘I don’t know how to fix things.’ And I responded, “I don’t know what will work, but I’m working my way through the list of what won’t.”…….. Love always works; not loving doesn’t. Thank you for the true treasure – that of your friendship and your love. ~ Ever, Bobbie
