lonely wears
the dreamer down
one memory at a time –
skies above the barn
are burning grey
heaven writes
but once a week –
how is it
now I’ve gone
from where I stood
– another
willed away
lessons keep
the night awake –
learning us by fault
when memorized
the joys
one heart can bring
life resolves
to start anew –
in leaving not to go
time is stopped –
but that don’t mean
a thing
for moments
more than falling down
were getting up again
as strange
this want for living
sorrow sworn
for time’s constraint
I have not words –
no curse of tiny white
– reasons come
before the path
was worn
. . .
author’s note – the photo is of
the caney fork river following a period
of heavy rains – regardless
the time passing – as one
we remain
. . .

so beautiful, from the very first word.
