someday

beyond the blue remiss
of shadows
beyond the crow –
a burning red
asphalt ribbons
split and sprawling
warn the soul
of hurts ahead

last night’s curse
the morning lover
left with not a thought
to ease
promise made
of everafter –
want for life
but one to please

parchment petals
lacey fingers
brush aside the anxious veil
gracious grieving –
mixed emotion
lies we taste –
but never tell

flush to fear
against the strangeness
bitter sweat
of let’s pretend
hands to reach
and there forever –
longing falls to love
again

. . .
