to this day –
of every life passed between
some were rivers
some were mountains –
some (remembered as) dreams
had I known
(what I know)
when reflecting the truth
when swore to the darkness
the light would wear through
at the end
(of returning)
at the last we shall know
what was real
what was nothing –
what is left (letting go)
had I heard
you were coming –
(made the best of my time)
might have slept through the winter –
every season divine
had I loved
(only you)
of all I have held –
might these moments
be heaven enough
were there pause to remember
the first time we met –
my life (but a shadow)
to the memory of love
…
Were there a moment in time
That gave back more than rhyme…

Oh, no………that’s not good (and I am moved to know that it was but a moment that moved Lewis to speak such). I am a shadow of love (you are a shadow of love)……..you love and you love and you love. Exactly! I thought of that very same scripture as I was writing. Much of what happens within the world, I do not understand. But I will understand, when I am ready to understand.
