of mysteries
unraveled –
hours into lives
leaving naught a sign
of where we were
rings into an aged oak
rails no longer sing –
winking now to sails
beyond the dark
evidence of faraway
sits in rust and briar –
almost gone
and who is left to tell
dusty roads
and no one else
knows the ways we came
to understand
truths another held
as pieces
of forever –
fold into the apron
stones are falling
someone let them in
doors to squeak
against the hinge
hold my hand
and sway
lunas tease the seeker
from the din
bittersweet
the ancient hymm
sang us once to death
as melody laid soft
upon the snow –
fleeting life
remembering the reasons
come again
close the night
and lets pretend
we know

‘Close the night and lets pretend we know’, those words summed up the messge in your poem so very beautifully. Those eight words sums up so much passion within them that they can easily sweep a heart and mind away without saying another word. It captures a moment that is more longlasting than lifes breaths themselves! Wonderfully written Bobbie. God bless, and much love to you always!
Thank you, Wendell……….and yes (in case you didn’t know), those were the only words I felt I needed when it was done. You touch my heart and I am blessed. ~ Much love, Bobbie
Lovely, I have to agree with the first comment. I love; ‘Close the night and lets pretend we know’. Speechless.
I hope you don’t mind if I reblog your link on my reblog page?
