as sunlight fills
the places ~
just beyond my summer dream
and stills my heart with
wishes for the rain
the steamy breath
of morning fire ~
stumbled from the shadows
and crossed a broken fence
into my way
gold embraced by crimson
weeds and red perfume ~
lacey lace of spinners
weaved for miles
the pass between
breaks my thought
with more than once ~
and where I’ll be tomorrow
spilled against a slant
of crooked board
warmed within a glass
of sugar tea and sweet magnolia
burned the window brown
with summer please
this one is really interesting, I love it! I could feel it, see it, taste it, touch it and practically hear bees buzzing near honey! Fantastic. The “red” image and burn were very vivid and nice. Love, Linda
Thanks, Linda. This was a five minute break from mowing the grass…….and even with the heat, the holly bushes think it’s winter. But the bees – they love the holly anytime of year. 🙂 Love you! Thank you. ~ Always, Bobbie
Your words always make my spirit dance to their vibrant melodies…another beautiful gem!
…as your words lift me higher than the clouds. Thank you, Wendell. ~ Bobbie
You have captured the essence of summer in these beautiful words, Bobbie! I love the thought of sugar tea and sweet magnolia — just the prescription for a hot summer day!
Thank you, Dee. Were you my neighbor, I’d have you over to sit a spell on the porch!! What a lovely thought. And you ARE my neighbor of a different sort (the best sort). Love you, Bobbie
Ah, summertime…, and isn’t it grand, darlin’ girl?
and wouldn’t it be even moreso if it could last the
whole year through. And don’t we love the warm
of summer sun on the skin?
And isn’t himself begun to ramble again? Consumate skill in this one…, written as only you can.
xo and good night, Bobbie
….always
Paul
You ramble well, my dear one…. but that’s not a bad thing at all. And yes, I love the feel of the sun on my skin! ~ Always, Bobbie
