from a place already started
I kept so few of these –
moments fell from lives
already done
whispers of the oldest breeze
cools familiar suns –
and rivers travel
backwards to the sea
somewhere else
my name is given –
tho I can’t recognize
the timber of affection
the permanence of grace
written by the one to know me
(now to know me still)
tho just as I
without the whole
of time
or memory
of why this way
and when another passed
as woodsmoke from the valley
kissed the morn
as light before I felt it
warmth against my cheek –
and nights I’ve walked for miles
in search of more
than what I sense in secret –
a music none can hear
a moving through
the wilderness of I
creation frees
ten thousand tides
spun of finest wings –
circled in a forest left behind –
poems writ on reams
of maple leaf –
breath retracing
rings of destiny
verses strung
from branch to branch
answers stitched between –
the hand I know
still holding
from the fall
Lives and memories turn and churn night by day
As we wander familiar paths along life’s way
Mindful of where we’ve been, watchful of where we go
Lest we lose ourselves, not heeding what we know.
Goodnight Lady Wordsmith,
Peace in your dreams,
And love in your heart,
xo
Paul
What beautiful sentiment you’ve shared here. Thank you, my dearest Paul. ~ Love, B
Our hearts can soothe our spirits, for it is the longtime keeper of memories, and the sweetest and sometimes sadddest of memories, but love can remind us of the perfect beauty that can be found in both, especially when soften by the years! Much love to you Bobbie…so beautiful your poem!
Thank you, dear Wendell. Always, we are the keepers of the truth. Our memories, though sometimes both sad and sweet, are our redemption for we have chosen how they live with us. We’ve chosen to keep them and part of that keeping is the letting go and the forgiveness that allows love to stay (no matter what). A very dear friend of mine is in need of prayers today as her husband is at the beginning of the end. I pray for his peace and hers, but I also pray that this be a time of miracles and comfort – of love and forgiveness. This is the time for choosing what we keep, and a time for giving of forgiveness long past due. There’s much I don’t know, but I know our worth lies not in that which we accumulate, but in that we give away. This truth allows us to always sleep well with our memories, haunted not by regrets for what might have been. For it is always here (in this moment and in eternal moments) that we find our treasure. Thank you, Wendell. I hope you’re feeling well today. Please keep me updated on your meetings with the doctor. ~ Much love, Bobbie
