in the orange
of the lilies –
do you find me growing there
wrapped in vine
the shade of april moss
whenever night is come
into the shadows where you lay
do you dream that I’m the sun
and take me in
in the lullabye
that carries you
before your eyes awake
do you wonder to the me
that rests beside
or linger by
an empty field
so sure you saw me there
walking tween the rows
of bergamot
do you worry of the notes I left
fragile leaves of time
or nailed against a bridge
you burned before –
do you see the signs
(do you know the way)
I came to find you waiting –
as the final wash of tides
into the bay
do you hear my voice
in private –
some faint amen I spoke
hastened by a prayer to recollect
the rest we knew
the last to prove
there would be no other ‘other’
no fall me down
to pick me up
again
do echoes sit the places
where we gathered by the noon –
will life return
before the wind’s caress –
what of us is left to be
when everything is gone
will then the orange
bloom within
your vest
or cling to that which
beats within –
tho covered now by scars
whene’er you see the dove
without a song
will you know me
(as you know me)
in the way the briars sting
to close the night
before the sun gets in
Such a very sweet poem!
…………you are sweet, Wendell. Thank you. ~ Much love, B
I love the ending of this: ‘to close the night’
Ohhhhhhhh, thank you. I struggled with that one line more than you can imagine. Good to see my intuition is in tact. 😀 ~ Love, Bobbie
“will you know me
(as you know me)” (forget the briars ! – hated them since I was a boy!!!)
I will hear your voice
And I will find you…
… but I never lost you!!! You never lost you.
Bobbie, the words you write are from the heart to the soul to the heart. Quite a conversation. These are questions of love. Beautifully written, as always.
(and, by the way, you are the sun.)

Now, how do I answer something like that? Or how do I read it without laughing out loud? The best I can do is say thank you……… xo Love, Bobbie
The first stanza is so graphic and palpable to me — I have a bed of flowers blooming now with orange lilies, and creeping below, a honeysuckle vine, wild and tame at the same time. Lovely lines, Bobbie!
Thank you, Dee! What a beautiful garden you have. So, you know exactly the vision in my heart. Actually, nothing about that surprises me. Thank you so much, my dear one. As always, your comments inspire me in ways I’m not sure I can explain. Truly, you are a blessing to me. ~ Love, Bobbie
Sweeet….beautiful..loved it!
Thank you so very much, my friend. Your kindness is especially appreciated this morning. ~ Love, Bobbie
