there was a time I knew
and a time that fell before
some scattered unfamiliar
in the midst of truth
a moment when I lingered
stepped from darkness
into light –
moved my bed
much closer to the window
gave my life to something
greater than the pieces I’ve become
pieces here
at last now fit together
were just waiting this –
their purpose
to make sense
pages without numbers
ribbons without red
numbers counted backwards
each death the same
was waiting an epiphany
a solitude revival
for the tent to raise
the choir to sing me home
Wow, I loved this..especially the image of a “tent of revival”, very strong…and also the moving of the bed, all so relate-able, Wonderful!
I am so so so glad!! I love this piece……one of those that wrote itself……….and the ‘move the bed’ reference is something my granny used to say when it was a bad day ~ you either needed to move the bed or break the plate. One or the other would fix almost everything. Thank you. ~ Love, me
Truly lovely and moving. ‘Pages without numbers, ribbons without red…’my favourite lines.
…….some of mine too, Vanessa. I am so glad you like this. ~ Love you, B
Leaves me with a feeling of exhiliration, of exaltation, a “surprised by joy”, overcoming moment. I love these phrases: “gave my life to something greater than the pieces I’ve become, pieces here at last now fit together, were just waiting this -their purpose to make sense”.
I suppose Oprah would call those ‘ah-ha’ moments……….. I just call them ‘arriving’ (which can be defined as ‘what works’)……. Thank you so much, Dee. ~ Love, Bobbie
