in the midst
of going crazy –
are words I strain to hear
sometimes I sit the night
and wait the want
to disappear
reminded of the places
still I keep
when day is gone
lest I forget when moments
came for me –
before the dawn
as one I knew
the same as love –
and times for days
the pages read –
when told of ways you walked
and miles to carry
pen and ink
were given life
a refuge from surrender
to shadows dark –
for there your light
was known
reminding me
of certain hope
much more than you
could utter –
whispers of belonging
touched by more
than rule and rhyme
word and still
forget me never
held between the lines –
no matter now
the distance passed –
as spirit folds around
revealing truth
we’ve yet to know –
in wandering to find
the paths we cleared
another day
are never left behind
for in my heart
and here – my soul –
as traces you remain
written by the trust
you swore
to give –
ageless
as were letters
carved into the bark –
are pages sent
to save me
tethered by your heart
I like this – it sort rejects the formality of poetry and goes into a very human language
Yes………. As a rule, I don’t care much for form when it comes to writing. Somehow, the form becomes more important than the words.
I have boxes and boxes of handwritten letters – some were written by my daddy to my mama when he was in the Air Force. Some were lifelines when I needed them most – souvenirs of emotion that can’t be lost with an accidental backstroke or virus. They are reminders of love, and though they are faded (how many times I’ve traced each letter), they are truly the language of the heart. I believe it is a lost art……. Thank you, Seb. ~ Much love, Bobbie
very moving, beautifully written…it quite a powerful message not only to the “intended”, so much more here, I love it! Linda
I would hope that anyone who reads my words comes away with two distinct feelings ~ one of which is that this is all we are given ~ this beautiful eternal now ~ and to waste it is perhaps the greatest sin. The other is the realization that each of us holds within us the power to change everything (or nothing). We have been given the power to change our lives and to make better the lives of others (and sometimes, that’s as easy as a few words to a blank piece of paper). It is an awesome and beautiful responsibility that few truly comprehend. But I know you do……. and I am grateful. Thank you, Linda. ~ My love, Bobbie
Won’t guess at the inspiration for this piece, Bobbie. I can only relate to it in the time that I was in the military, overseas, away from everyone/everything familiar and dear to me, hoping to return to my real life and those close to me. It’s beautifully written, powerful emotion, and words that speak to a spirit deep inside. Very, very nice.
…. always,
xo
Paul
I think (I pray) that many can relate, Paul. That you can doesn’t surprise me. In fact, it tugs at my heart.
When my niece went off to college, I tried to write her every week or two. Not just an email but a real letter, often with a surprise of cookies or a photo, a four leaf clover, a magnet. I figured she would see them as corny, but she didn’t………because in them, she realized the depth of my love for her. And while I never would suppose to love her more, I love her differently because my relationship with her is unline any other (she is she and I am me)…..
There’s just something about hand written letters than say what nothing else has the strength to say…… 🙂 And yes, I know you know. ~ Love, Me
The beauty of loves sweet whisper, is that it’s embrace never dissipates but always touches our soul, leaving an aroma that lifts the heart when days seem long and nights longer…bringing tangible moments where memories dance to life feeding the fire that had laid dormant in a silent rest! Your words always awaken life within one’s heart and dares it to dream of what is yet possible why one breathes the sweet joy of life. You are always so inspiring Bobbie and also so creative! You can fill emptiness in a heart and make it smile!
You are so right (about love). It becomes a part of us. Our lives, but a clean slate of God’s love, awaiting the imprint of joys and sorrows, laughter and tears…..creating always the vision God had of our beauty. Thank you, Wendell (for everything). ~ Love, Bobbie
Beautiful…
Thank you so much, Felicia. I truly appreciate your kindness, and am blessed every single time you stop by. ~ Much love, Bobbie
