came a thief
who took the mountain
took away the peaceful stream
gave a silver plated nickel –
to the beggar
for his dreams
took the ways for which we wandered
left us nothing for the fight
took the heart (was once so tender)
pulled it (pleading)
from the light
was a thief
who took of pardons –
spoke in tongues (we strained to hear)
promised wine (a crystal fountain)
somewhere far
(not far from here)
spoke of highways
thru the heavens –
told of trust beyond the veil
sold us courage from a bottle
jaded cup (a wishing well)
from those moments
came another –
one more chance to turn away
another dollar for our wishes
stars we loved –
at once betrayed
for the hope of more
than vision –
righteous want
for more than will
took the last of mortal conscience
lifetimes passed us –
standing still
came a thief
in prophet’s clothing –
golden robes (of fated sun)
took of breath –
the soul’s impression
left behind the empty one
There’s more than truth here. Can’t say more. Beautifully written, Bobbie.

…..more than enough…….. Thank you, Paul. Much, Bobbie
The rhythm of the words is entrancing, and the tale being told is riveting.
Thank you so much, Dee. This was a struggle, and at first, a sense of confusion (not truly understanding) the meaning of words given me……. But ultimately (with the help of another), I realized that my desire for it to be perfect were getting in the way of it being ‘perfect’…….. Thank you. ~ Much love to you always. ~ Bobbie
a penny for your thought
a penny on the ground is said to be a sign from heaven

wow I am not sure you wrote it as I took it
but wow….
very descriptive in rhyme and riddles
only the poet knows the answers in between their lines

I believe there is an eternity of silence between words that only the poet can hear………. Whether that’s true or not, I’m listening! Thank you, Maryrose. I love you! ~ Bobbie
A true tale being told in this one, it’s sad that the human race can treat beauty with cruelty, greed and abandon isn’t it?
…….sad indeed that we cling so to our color TV’s and let the forest burn…… Thanks, Vanessa. ~ Love, Bobbie
deep mourning here for the taking and attempt to break a culture, a home…beautifully, tragically and honorably written, Love, Linda
Thank you, my dearest Linda……. Tragic that it happens, but beautiful that those who think it is wrong are growing in numbers. Love you so. ~ Bobbie
Bows to your tailored hope in time hope is suffocating…
