heaven was never
so real
she confessed
one morning when coffee
could hear
as she gazed past the windows
far past the gate
a pull from forever
as want fell away
she remembers how easy
how sweetly
his need –
a place she was saved
by his touch
heaven was never
this dearly imagined
warm as the sun
in september
we loved

had i days
a million more
– words
to stretch between
nights without
the need
or want to dream
storms to shake
the rafters
gold to press the morn
coffee resurrected
by your love
had i truth
beyond intention
lies i could not bear
so much of me
with nothing left
to share
til you were come
amazing
– a sun i failed to see
how sweet the ways
the distance
became of love
you gifted
me
