how long I’ve been
in growing up –
the first of four
(so many)
never thought to this
the dreaming in your eyes
when I hold you near
(o, daddy)
you tremble more and more
and I want to cry
(for these, not I)
tomorrow will remember
hold me close
a moment more –
and beg me not (o, baby)
think to things
beyond my weak control
of days or years
I have not either –
or means to slow their passing
take my hands
let’s wander back this way –
to other places (stories told)
in makings of a memory
you washed my feet
with whispers of your love
I shall stay
the long night through –
and fight with words
each demon
would take of leave
this moment here –
tis mine and mine alone
one day
I know
the call will come
and tears will flow untended
but still within
the presence of a smile –
for treasure keeps a place with me
inheritance (already)
arms to wrap around
they feel the same
to me
Love him every day…you’ll never regret it for a moment.
Be encouraged!
I do…….and I shall not…………. I will only (always) love! Thanks, Stephen.
Each moment with your Dad is a gift to treasure. Beautiful, touching sentiments, Bobbie!
Thank you, Dee……… I think there’s only one fault to be found in living in the now. For me, it means opening my heart wide open to the emotional tidal wave of being in a moment. It means holding nothing back (nothing) for this may be all there is. And in that flood of emotion comes the realization that this – this is more than most ever know. This is enough (love is always enough)! Thank you, Dee. It was a wonderful amazing day…… ~ Love, Bobbie
I am so happy for you, Bobbie! And it was a wonderful day for me as well! Love, Dee
That makes me smile, Dee. I’m so glad for both of us!
Went to a baseball game this afternoon and then caught fireflies in the back yard this evening. Today I was a kid once again, not a father. It was fun!
Bobbie, as for “living in the moment”, those who hold back from that don’t realize that they may not get another moment. Live it, feel it, and do it, It is worth it even if the price may be tears. Being fully alive is nothing to regret.
G’nite now,
Much love,
Paul
Amen to that, dear Paul. Your day sounds fabulous, and I am blessed in the sharing of that vision of your smile. Thank you. ~ Love, Me
Beautiful Bobbie, simply beautiful!
Thank you, dearest Wendell. I hope your special day was filled with insurmountable joy with your girls and cats! 🙂 ~ B
What a tender tribute to your Daddy, beautiful and heartfelt x
Thank you, sweet Vanessa. It was a wonderful day…….. ~ Love you. ~ B
There’s no one in the world like our daddy. This is so beautifully expressed and full of love for the first man in your life. 🙂
…the first I ever loved and the first to love me………. *sigh* Thank you, Jeannie. I weep for the women who have never known such love…….who were cheated of a love for which there is no name other than just ‘daddy’….. Thank you. ~ Love, Bobbie
