was once
you loved a younger me
eyes where softly glowed
the picture perfect image
of another destiny
a soul consumed
with where the road began
it never was
but for a time
one night i dreamed
i knew the way by heart
ageless constellations
signs and swords
appeased
by echoes
of my laughter
down the hall
photographs and poetry
per chance
my rhyme to meet
in stories
yet unwritten
heroes all

press me not
for names and places
one more only time
a moment
just beginning
separates me now
from a life
I might have lived
beyond the realm
of rhyme
wonder unexpected
fearless in my flight
as once a sparkle
danced
above the pines
how many lives
will I return
defending what was lost
searching every
memory
of time

before the
night around us bends
against the weight
of dreaming
again as when
I knew you then
the same as this
redeeming
a place of light
as heart to heart
as warmth
between and knowing
forever sleeps
in memory
of where we touch
tonight

kept apart
another moon
and thirteen setting suns
bladeless shades
where winter
hides
her soul

perfume
of remember me
how it is
you can’t
recall a time of one
was all we were

spring
at last
is waking here
sometimes the morning
sings
with fairytales
ten thousand paper songs
held aloft by destinies
meant for us
one day

snow was not
the first
of tears we gave
